This probably comes as no surprise to anybody who has played Street Fighter IV or booted it up the first time and reached the end. But for those who need an excuse for failing, in an interview with VideoGamer.com, assistant roducer for the arcade version, Ryota Niitsuma has acknowledged that Seth and Sagat are indeed overpowered and "might have turned out a little bit stronger than [they] expected.” But he also states that any good player can take on these goliaths and cites the examples of the top three players in the world; none of them use either Seth or Sagat.

If you’ve played Capcom’s incredible fighter Street Fighter IV, you’ll probably be aware that end boss Seth and giant Thai kickboxer Sagat are more than a little useful. Seth’s got a move-set taken from Guile, Zangief and Dhalsim, and Sagat’s HK to Ultra is pretty much the easiest string of anti-air-to-guaranteed Ultra ever conceived in a fighting game. The verdict? Most fans reckon both characters are overpowered.

Now, for the first time, Capcom has admitted as much. Speaking to VideoGamer.com, Ryota Niitsuma, assistant producer of the arcade version of the critically-acclaimed fighting game, said Seth and Sagat “might have turned out a little bit stronger than we expected”.

When we asked Niitsuma, who is currently producing the western version of Wii-exclusive fighting game Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, if, looking back, he felt any Street Fighter IV characters were overpowered, he replied: “Well first of all I might have to apologise! Does he involve being slightly blinded and scarred [laughs]?”

He added: “Yes, Seth and perhaps Sagat might have turned out a little bit stronger than we expected.”

At the end of June, UK pro Ryan Hart won the official Street Fighter IV European Championship in London. He beat Frenchman Alioune Camara in the grand final. Both players picked Sagat.

I haven't really faced too many Seths and the ones that I did weren't that great since they probably weren't using him correctly. But if they're talking about the Seth that appears as the final boss, then yeah, I think he needs to be toned down a little.

I don't think the noobs were expecting to get their ass handed to them on the easier difficulty levels. xD

Seth is way too hard. On medium I didn't have that much trouble going through all the rounds before Seth, and then when I got to Seth, I literally could not beat him in 25 rounds. The first time you knock him down isn't that tough, but he is really difficult in the second fight. He just warps behind me and suplexes me .
