Despite five characters already confirmed to be central party members in Final Fantasy XIII's plot, there are still a few more in the dark. This info came directly from the game's lead writer and designer Motomu Toriyama in a interview with Japanese gaming magazine Jump. This means a minimum of at least two more members, which if my math is correct makes seven.

"We will be revealing more party members in the future," Toriyama commented while talking about the latest party member named Hope Estheim.

No, a "minumum of at least two more" makes 6. Hope is not a party member. He is a bullshit little boy that tags along even with the REAL party even though he hates them.

As much as I believe that there will be more characters revealed, the source isn't exactly a good one.

I could go to my NeoBlog and post something exactly the same right now...

Plus, I've never heard of this fansite before.

I have heard of them. But these days, there's no real forerunner in FF fansites - the fansites leading the pack tend to be focused around particular titles. A lot of the rest has fallen into forums.

That aside, the article is wrong almost from the start. "Lead writer and designer" is rather unnecessary, he's the direct, plain and simple. It was an interview with Famitsu, not any of Shueisha's publications. They don't know what magazine it was from, so they obviously didn't translate it themselves. They don't list a source for their translation. I don't particularly like the site or individual that provided the translation (I'm pretty sure those excerpts came from the same one I read), but they should at least credit them.

So yes, I agree. Appalling source.
