Cliffy.B, the design director of the Gears of War franchise has killed all the rumors that have been popping on the internet about the possibility of a Gears of War game on Sony’s console, the PS3.

Speaking on Kotaku radio, when someone had mentioned that Microsoft doesn’t hold the exclusivity of the franchise and asked him about the possibility of the next installment in the series to appear on the PS3 as a multiplatform title, the creative force behind the Gears of War franchise answered:

“Honestly there’s really no plans for any Gears on PS3 any time soon, which I can confirm”

Well, wasn't this pretty obvious anyway?

I'm expecting a Gears of War 3 announcement at the next E3.

The key word is "any time soon".

Oh well, we have our exclusives anyways.

Who cares? Every console needs its exclusives to stay relevant, if all the 360 and PS3 games were the same, what would be the point?

360 has Gears and Halo, PS3 has Uncharted and God of War.

    World keeps spinning...

Eh . . . no worries here at all. Why does everyone want all the games to go multiplatform? I understand to an extent, so more gamers can play the games, but we all have to admit that exclusives almost always are better-made because of the focus on the game while they make it.

Now if the games were multiplatform, but for each platform they made the game different and almost just as though they were making it exclusive to that, then it'd be great! More gamers can play, and no quality would have to be lost!

But till then . . . what's so wrong about variety and each console having different things?

Wouldn’t work because games would have a lot more stuff on the PS3 do too the disc size

And that would mean developers would have to actually do extra work and they are lazy enough as it is

And that's exactly the thing there . . . unfortunately devs aren't willing to do it! It's possible, very possible. And believe me, if they started doing it they would definitely make more money! But like you said, too often devs aren't willing to go the extra mile

Gears of War is a multi platform game though, it's on the 360 and the PC, so it can't be an exclusive if it's on two platforms.

CONSOLE exclusive, seriously i'm sick of people constantly stating it's multiplat just caus it's on PC.

The PC is a platform. Educate yourself.

And it's a relevant statement to boot. I don't have to buy a 360 because many of the worthwhile games are available on a platform I already own. Also, Gears of War gets tired pretty fast.

But the PC isn't a home console, which is what people mean when they say platform.

Since when is that what people mean when they say platform? They've been saying "platform" long before home consoles even existed. Back when the only thing that existed were PCs and the different makes of each was a platform.

I'm not going to argue this anymore. It's simply wrong. The PC is a platform, by very definition, and not even that it was one before any home console.

The point of it all though is this: Most of the time when people say "multiplatform" they actually mean "multi-console" because they consider the PC to be in a realm of gaming separate from console-gaming. The 360 and PC often get the same games, but the games are almost always considered "exclusives." It's really a moot argument though, since we're speaking of the 360/PS3 really.

I'm not saying it isn't a platform, I'm saying that's what people mean. You're the one who jumped onto it all offensively.

Words change meaning even within context, which you're ignoring I guess.

You're right, you didn't say that, but what you did say is that people are only talking about consoles when they say platform and I'm telling you no. Anyone who isn't an ignorant console only gamer means platform and includes the PC. Simple no?

If you want to go technical...all home consoles are just specialized PC's.

Since the Xbox360 is a Microsoft product, I'm sure there are fewer obstacles transitioning to the Windows "platform."

As for developers and being exclusive to one system, I think that's a great idea. Some of the best games are single platform and the PS3 usually suffers from multi platform games anyway.

The best PS3 games are the exclusives....but developers favor the Xbox360.

Its not that they favor the 360 its that they have to make game first for 360 then port it over to PS3

Because if they base it on ps3 it wouldn’t fit on 360 disc

Developers create games for 360 then port them over and since both machines are different the games won’t play as well

Biggest question: who even cares about this anymore? I mean, I stopped worrying about 360 exclusive ports a loooong time ago...

It's more like Metal Gear Raiden, and I imagine the gameplay style will be vastly different, but yes. Yes it is.
