PSN to SEN: Time to rage quit? - DarkFeed

After Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles recieved low sales on the Nintendo Wii, it looks like Capcom are now considering which platforms are best for their future.
In a recent interview with Gamekult.com, the Director General of Capcom France, Antoine Seux, admitted that the company's target audience simply isn't with the Wii anymore and that "for us, Capcom, the future is the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360." That doesn't mean gamers won't see any more Capcom games on the Wii console, but the majority of their "growth" will be aimed towards the PS3 and 360.
Forgive the online translation below.
You have also released other strong franchises like Monster Hunter, Resident Evil on Wii, or Bionic Commando. How have they behaved?
In fact, there have been several releases in 2009. On the satisfactory side, one mentions Monster Hunter Freedom Unite for PSP, which went well. For a long time, since Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, there had not been a big hit on this platform. It was not easy at first, as it was two years no license this game was released in France, and the PSP market was very difficult. However, the game was a success and we are currently at 33,700 sales, which is quite satisfactory for this support. These will be the best sales for Monster Hunter, it is true that the overwhelming support of Sony Computer Entertainment was a huge asset for us.
As for Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles, its absolute figures are not too bad, but I'm not going to lie, they are below what we hoped. After three weeks (the interview was conducted December 23, editor's note), we are at a total of 16,000 units sold. One feels that there is a very clear problem on this style of game on the Wii, where 'hardcore' gamers are obviously moved on.
Two more years beforehand, Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles had a very very big success on Wii. Here we can see, the customer of the Wii has turned into something of a much broader audience. It is a disappointment.
This is surprising because Resident Evil 4 on Wii was a commercial success...
Resident Evil 4 on Wii worked well, but was released in June 2007, when the market had nothing! This year the Wii was very difficult with an oversupply, and a gamer market that has radically changed. We note that the "hardcore" games are selling less and less on the Nintendo Wii, whether I'm talking about MadWorld, Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop, The House of the Dead: Overkill... sales were not extraordinary.
Compared to the 140,000 units Resident Evil 4 Wii sold at the time, it is very far away. There is clearly a concern to this level.
By expanding the total market and platforms, what did you think of 2009?
This is the year of the emergence of the so-called next generation consoles. I feel a clear position with the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in the market. This does not necessarily mean in the total figures, because the Wii is still an important part of sales, but growth is on both PS3 and 360 platforms.
The DS is declining, for various reasons like market saturation and piracy. For these same reasons, the PSP is dying. The Wii console is very much a family commitment and rates relatively low. So for us, Capcom, the future is the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

You know what the biggest disappointment about the RE4 and RE5's? Their complete abandonment of some of the core Resident Evil gameplay elements. Like claustrophobia. Each Resident Evil game up until those had a certain level of containment and all the backtracking and stuff made for more tense gameplay. There need to be more areas of no action to make the action moments more thrilling.
You have enemies constantly being thrown at you in RE4 and RE5 that it doesn't even become threatening or exhilarating, just boring really.
Bring back the puzzle solving and the contained areas. There's a way to do backtracking right and keep you on your toes even though it's some place you've been through already. RE1-3 proved that (REmake dog hallway). Even Resident Evil 3 felt contained and claustrophobic. Ugh... Resident Evil... why did you have to change. Resident Evil 4 and 5 are absolutely great games, but they're just terrible main series games... just make them a spin off or something and continue the main series in it's traditional fashion. Too late now I guess.
My 10 playthroughs of RE4 says otherwise
But yeah as RE's 4 sucked and RE5 even as a non RE game wasn't that great. At least RE4 had levels that resembled RE with it's dark levels, especially the castles which fit right at home with RE and the cultish style weirdo baddies
RE5 on th eother hand was as far removed from RE as possible and was so crap that had you not be able to select any level whenever you want after finishing the game once, I would have stopped playing after my first playthrough.
Guess thats all Capcom has going for them now regarding Resident Evil - "A RE2 remake or bust"
Bring on RE,RE2 & RE3!!
no shit Sherlocke! everyone but you knew that for a long time Capcom...
Plus I think their goal is to send a message to Nintendo that they don't consider their platform such a viable option anymore. It's not as if they're going around saying "Wii sucks" or other such insults.

This only turns into a pissing contest if ruled makes it one.I don't care how many times he has played RE4.All I did was point out that it didn't get boring very quick seeing as I finished it about 10 times which is 9 times more than I usually finish games these days.
Anyway I don't understand why ruled said it gets boring if he finished it more than 10 times. If he finished it mre than 10 times then he couldn't have found it that boring.Anyway anything will get boring after you play it too many times.Even MGS1 which I probably finished 20 times or more got boring after a while.
You stop and start a lot.
