Despite Sega being not so satisfied with Madworld's sales and saying it would back off on making similar Wii titles, it appears a sequel is not apart of that view, at least according to the developer.

In an exclusive interview that will appear in the new issue of Official Nintendo Magazine which goes on sale on Friday 15 January, Platinum's Shigenori Nishikawa said "I think MadWorld was very well received and was acknowledged for its innovative graphical style and gameplay. We would definitely be interested in making a sequel in the future."

Nishikawa clearly doesn't see a problem with making another mature game on Wii, a console he describes as "a very well-balanced piece of hardware."

I'm confused by the first paragraph chaut, Platinum Games and Sega are only connected by a four game deal at present, if Sega are backing off from mature Wii titles it would mean nothing about PG's stance on the matter. Although I could just be misinterpeting the wording.

Anyway I'm not surprised and actually quite happy considering I enjoyed Madworld, and it'd be a nice chance for the developers to fix the faults in the original. Although given how absurd Madworld was I can't think of how they'll be able to better the original in terms of presentation.

Wasn't aware of that. Guess Sega wouldn't publish then.

Pretty much. After Platinum formed they made a contract of some description with Sega whom would publish Madworld, Bayonetta, Infinite Space and upcoming title directed by Shinji Mikami (Which the website countdown will probably reveal), but aside from that Platinum have no connection to Sega. I imagine the deal was only made in the first place due to them been short on funds since splitting from Capcom.
