Patrick Garratt types up an interesting article consisting of a couple of interviews. The question being posed is, with the current problems facing the RTS genre, can it prevail into the future?

If ever a gaming genre has become a lightning rod for brow-knotting aphorisms, it’s real-time strategy. Conventional wisdom dictates that RTS has failed to crack the console market in this or any other generation, despite repeated attempts from talented teams, and its native PC home has been relentlessly attacked by pirates in recent years. It’s a two-pronged assault to which even the biggest names in games have apparently no answer, say the worriers.

    Games like Age of Empires and Warcraft should go strong I'd hope. I've spent many hours playing them online, addicting.

        Yes they did. Sadly. A03 was just nothing compared to AO2. :/

        Warcraft, Starcraft, C&C and sins are the only ones that can compete now.

          Yes, but 2/3 of those aren't going into the future too well at the going rate of releases. Blizzard really doesn't seemed too concerned with anything that's not WoW.
