Today, we are glad to make an interview with Sheloman Byrd from Gamepot USA. In this delightful interview, Sheloman introduced us many intersting details about Fantasy Earth Zero, which is going to enter second open beta on March 17th. As a more than 4 years old MMOAPRG, FEZ may not be good at game graphic. However, its meticulous designed gameplay will show you the good qualities of a real traditional MMORPG.
MMOsite: Hi~ we are so glad to be able to have this interview with you. Could you make a self introduction to our readers?
Sheloman: Glad to be here. My name is Sheloman Byrd, Business Development and Marketing for Gamepot USA.
MMOsite: We are very curious about your new fantasy MMO – Fantasy Earth Zero. Could you give us a brief introduction to this game?
Sheloman: Fantasy Earth Zero is a free MMOAPRG, the "A" standing for Action. It combines a rich fantasy setting, three unique classes, multiple battlegrounds, and massive 100-player PvP to create a theater of warfare unlike any MMO out there. You choose your allegiance to an ideal and the King that personifies it, and fight for it with your friends.
There's a few important distinctions in Fantasy Earth Zero - first, the combat system is more akin to a third-person action game, jumping, dodging attacks, using the reticule to hit your foes, this is a key element of Fantasy Earth Zero. Attacks are not auto-hits, which places an emphasis on your own skill, rather than your gear. This plays into the leveling aspect - the focus of the game is not just to gain levels, but to win territory - this is a war after all. So, there are cases where a lower level can take out a higher level if they really know how to fight. The levels don't necessarily matter as much as your skill at the game.
The other big distinction is that the world will be immediately familiar to anyone who's experienced a Square Enix game - well-balanced class, epic score, infinite replay value, polish, and most of all, fun.
This is just scratching the surface, we can get into the players transforming into summons in a moment…
MMOsite: Since this is Square Enix's first free-to-play MMO, could you tell us what made you choose this business model? Also, how are you cooperating with Square Enix regarding the running of this MMOG?
Sheloman: Well, we are partners with Square Enix in Japan for this game, where it has been a big success. We feel that it is a unique title, and we hope that players feel the same. Square Enix is a great partner, and the synergy of their game and our knowledge of the Free-to-Play market puts us in a position to deliver an immersive experience - that means no ads, nor "click to avoid" screens, no game breaking anything. You simply login and play.
