Capcom originally brought WayForward's platform title 'Shantae' to the Game Boy Colour just as the system was dying off and the GBA was starting to spring into life. Many claimed it was the system's swan-song and it still has a strong following today. But what happened to the GBA sequel, what is going on with the supposed WiiWare version and how about that Nintendo DS edition that was also said to be in development? WayForward's new Shantae newsletter reveals all, confirming details of the game's long-running past (with a NES and GameCube version mentioned!) and the status of current projects.

"Shantae WiiWare: Informally (and inadvertently) announced at GDC, this is an ongoing experiment in 2D on the Wii. As it currently stands, the game is very traditional as an action/platform game (no Wiimote Wagging) with its main draw being 480P 2D artwork. If the project gets legs, we’ll have more to say in the next newsletter. For now, it just looks cool!"
