Many fans would have noticed that most of the female characters in Soul Calibur IV have had a 'chest upgrade', and now it has been revealed that character's armor will also destructible. Yes, if you hit an opponent hard enough, expect their clothing to go flying!

Does anyone get the impression that Soul Calibur IV trying to compete with the Dead or Alive series?

[Discuss in the Soul Calibur IV forum]

The most recent Soul Calibur IV trailer seems to indicate that besides Star Wars characters and enormous boobs, the game also has destructible body armor. Meaning? That it appears throttling opponents hard enough causes armor to fly off. Wonder if it will be possible to knock Vader's helmet off or if this is just going to your typical disrobe-female-fighters kinda thing. Honestly, we're pulling for naked Yoda.

...That is just sad. Bandai Namco, I must say I'm disappointed in you. This is going further than DoA, is that what they are trying to achieve? Jeez.

You can't really say that, you know. People don't buy the game just to look at tits, do they? Would you buy Soul Calibur IV if what you wanna do is look at tits? If I were you, I'd buy something else.

It's not so much about sex appeal as it is there's nothing else to remove. The way the fighting system is, the characters lose their armor after enough damage. Some characters just don't have the armor to lose.

Some as in 95% of the characters don't. Only Nightmare, Siegfried, and Hilde wear armor. Everyone else wears casual clothes...or barely anything, like Xianghua.

the screens of the armor being destroyed are exclusively female characters.

Soul Calibur eats DOA alive. They don't need to compete with them, with explicit content or otherwise.

I guess they've run out of ideas on how to "revolutionize" the SC gameplay.

Has nobody at Bamco thought of a Stage Editor/Creator? =_=

Oh god, Who are they trying to impress here? focus more on gameplay and not stuff for nerds to masturbate over please? ):

All of it is a part of gameplay though? As you get hit by a sword, your clothes get torn apart or your armor battered and you get weaker.

It looks like they are trying hard to get this game to sell as much as possible. You know what they say, "Sex sells". But hey, I'm not complaining. This will also some realism to the game.

I love how DOA fanboys thumbs down post that says anything bad about their precious game.

SC is great, I think in area's it does beat DOA.

As for this, its not really surprising nor am I making it out to be some great thing.

Soul Calibur is better without it DoA, Tekken, VF all those types would still be doing the same stuff, SC changed it up and revolutionised fighting games.

I like both series but I have to say that SC is better.Sure one of the biggest selling points of both games is half naked, big breasted women. But I feel SC has better production value than DOA.

SC is good as itself. What's with the sex appeal? I liked it when it didn't have to stoop to such lows to sell.

And don't tell me crap about "realism". It's for sex appeal and everyone knows it.

Haha, too true. There's nothing realistic about hitting someone and having their clothes fly off.

I disagree, I think there's a sense of realism while a sense of sex appeal. Tell me if you get into a fight at one point your close can fly or be taken off. So why not add something interesting in a game?

      Meh what do I know...

You're right FB. Everytime I have gotten into a fight, clothes have flown everywhere. Sometimes I can't even see the person I'm attacking, because there is so much cloth in the air.

If anything, add some scars or bruises during battle, and if you hit that area during those rounds, it does more damage as they are sore there.

I mean...steel swords on clothes would do more than just tear them.

And just because it hasn't happened to you, you can say it never happens in general?

I haven't gotten into fights, but I have seen it, and it does in fact happen. Rare or not, isn't the point.

But hey like i stated before "Meh what do I know..."

If there are destructible clothes, I don't want to see Voldo's zombie schlong flailing wildly everywhere.

    The horror..
