HAWX squads to be voice controllable

Linkin Park Fan | May 31, 2008 | News | PC Playstation 3
No more pressing down on the D-pad, Eurogamer has confirmed the ability to control your squad with your voice. Not much else was told about this feature, but hopefully the people without a headset can use the D-pad. Andrei Constin, the demonstrator for the game at the UbiDays event, also revealed the game will have Co-op.
Ubisoft has told Eurogamer that you will be able to use voice commands to order your squad-mates around in Tom Clancy's HAWX.

Demonstrator Andrei Costin spilled the beans at the recent UbiDays event in Paris, but avoided elaborating on exactly how it will all work; we expect it will be a blend of EndWar and Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter.

HAWX will also have seamless co-op for you and one other player. Costin promised to talk about multiplayer in much more depth leading up to the game's "holiday 2008" release on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

HAWX is the fighter pilot game based in a Clancy world where private military companies are threatening to take over.

You form part of an elite flying force that has all the best planes at its disposal, and will apparently form tight bonds with your squad-mates as they chat to you in the top right video window on your HUD - you also receive mission information here.

Costin pitched the game as its own blend of arcade and simulation, and told us that he hopes he can capture the camaraderie and exhilaration exhibited in renowned Hollywood tale, Top Gun.

There are no beach volleyball moments, though.

Look out for our full hands-on impressions with the promising project soon.

Meanwhile, negative dive into our HAWX gamepage for the latest trailer and screenshots.

Sounds good so far. But isn't every game using PMCs nowadays? Ah well. Maybe a rival for AC

This game actually looks pretty good. It might get a spot on my gamefly account, if it turns out to be good.
