Rumor: New PS3Mote For Playstation

Playstation Underground has allegedly held a secret focus group earlier this year. A small group of Playstation 3 owners went to the facility to test a new Sony product. It seems that they have followed suit in the Wii and has made their very own 'PS3Mote', but with more features and a better response to motion. Even when the demonstrator crouched, the character on screen crouched in sync.

You can have up to 4 of these “PS3motes” connected at one time. A demonstrator at this focus group was there showing off the “PS3motes” capabilities, along with some mini-games to play. The mini games ranged from tennis, to fencing, to a “really really cool” paintball game. The demonstrator even used the “PS3mote” to play “Quake” on his laptop.

The “PS3mote” is said to be incredibly responsive and accurate. When the demonstrator crouched while playing the paintball game, the character on screen did as well.

    Obviously not true, a whole new version of games would have to be built specifically for these games. Sony aren't that dumb

      Yeah developers were so pissed when SIXAXIS was unleashed or the Wii was unveiled, they love motion in games... If this is true i think they would jump at the chance of being able to make an indepth high res graphically stunning motion game.

    I hope this doesn't happen i mean just based on the name it sounds a like a complete rip off of the Wii. I mean c'mon the Wii does that, just stick to what we have available to us already.

    I don't think so. Like Silver Mirror said, this is gonna need a new generation of games built specifically for it.

    That's not necessarily true. If this hypothetical 'PS3Mote' were to be released, it would most likely be as part of a separate branch of games in a similar way to the Eyetoy. The Eyetoy is a completely different way of controlling games, yet it doesn't mean that Sony integrated it into every single game released. Rather, it had it's own little sub-division of games. Should this PS3Mote be released, I highly suspect it will follow the same path.

      Now now, there is no need for the mindless use of capitalisation to give the impression or anger and shouting, this has about as much credibility as any other rumour since it is well a rumor.

      Sony's focus groups always present jaw dropping technology that usually doesn't come out for about 4-5 years.

      Edit: Not to mention nobody believed the PSP 2000 focus group a while back either. =P

      Ameer you of all people should realize the amount of rumors Sony has put out there the past year only to end up being true. I mean come on you were the Mod of the PS3 general forums, this shouldn't come as a surprise.

      While at the moment it is a rumor, you can't call anyone who might believe this an idiot knowing Sony's past.

          They have always pushed technology more than any game company, I mean if you look at there track record their systems were technically good in its time, including the PS3.

    God Sony, Please don't do this. Its Just blantent copying now, Even if you aren't mimicing Nintendo having thought of this ages, People will think you're just following the trend and that'll turn them off.

    Look at whats happening with Rockband and GH4, for example.
