Games We Love but Wish We Could Love Playing

We've been getting steady amount of rumours this past week about the in-game XMB and it seem like we have yet another rumour has now come to light...
At first it was rumoured that version update 2.4 would be released before Metal Gear Solid 4, and the update would contain both trophies and in-game XMB, and the PS3's upcoming game PixelJung Eden has also been shown to support the new trophy system.
Well, PlaystationLifeStyle.net have managed to get insider information and confirm the release date for the new update's release - 6th June 2008.
Hey guys and girls, in a follow up to all my other reports from my exclusive insider on 2.40, I have some small news on 2.40. You may have heard all the rumors about 2.40 arriving this month, with some even as going as far as stating a release on June 10th.
Some Points from videogaming 247:
- Sonys currently going through PS3s library to check whether or not in-game XMBs full compatible. While its expected that the the new menu system, in-game messaging, and so forth, will work with virtually all games, for a minority of titles the current black menu screen will be retained. Its not known yet which games, if any, wont be able to use in-game XMB.
- The user-music functionality is only included in the new development tools, which have now gone out to coders. This means that existing games wont support it unless theyre patched. Thats right: you wont be able to play GTA IV with your own music unless Rockstar updates the game, if what weve been told this morning is true.
- Same for Trophies. They tools required to add these are only just in the hands of developers, which means its going to be some time before you see the feature appear in a major game.
- Some aspects of the XMB, such as the photo viewer, wont be available in-game after the 2.40 Firmware update. If you select these features in-game, youll be asked if you want to drop out of your game to access them.
