Hirokazu Hamamura, The president of Enterbrain, which is the publisher of popular Japanese magazine Famitsu, gave a lecture about the current status of the console market.
He stated that unlike the Wii, the PlayStation 3 has many exclusive games that belong to famous franchises, all previously released for the PlayStation and PlayStation 2. The bad thing is that most of these games don't even have a release date and that raises doubts among the fans. Once they are released, however, Hirokazu Hamamura assures that the PlayStation 3 will be in better situation than it is today.

He gave Final Fantasy XIII and Metal Gear Solid 4 as an example. As the two most expected titles for the PlayStation 3, once they are released the console will sell many units just because of them.

In addition, Hirokazu Hamamura claims that the PlayStation 3 might be cheaper by the end of 2007 due to Sony's new chip technology.

I'm sure they will help raise sales along with Devil May Cry, Heavenly Sword, and similar titles. Let's just hope that the Playstation 3 will get as many good exclusive titles as the Playstation 2 got in the near future. =)

Well it's one of the main reason I've purchased my PS3. Also Kingdom Hearts is another reason why I have purchased this console. Anyway I always end up purchasing all recently released console.

Sure are some sweet exclusives for the PS3. It's games like FF 13 and MGS4 that make me want to get a PS3, and I definitely plan to get one in a few years along with these two titles!

No crap on those two bringing in the people, I know folks who are buying the console just for one of those two games. The biggest blow at the moment which the PS3 is probably dealing with is that there is little to no exclusives when it comes to the real big hitters, like Oblivion, Gears of War or Grand Theft Auto IV. That the PS3 owners are getting a good number of downloads for the latter is often overlooked.

At the moment, I think a lot of what Sony is going to be depending on is more and more newer lines to bring into the public eye. The likes of Heavenly Sword is one, and if it was still exclusive, Assassin's Creed would have been another.

Two hotly anticipated titles, coupled with a PS3 price drop could be the one-two punch the console needs to start dispelling the bad vibes. Of course the Famitsu reviews will be what everyone will be looking out for, for better or worse.
