Unnamed sources in Holland have said that the Playstation 3 Firmware 2.4 will be out June 18th 2008. The firmware will let you have in-game communication, and also a similar trophy system.

PS3 Firmware 2.4 - the one we're all waiting for - will be out on June 18, claim "unnamed sources" in Holland.

Version 2.4 is expected to introduce the much-requested in-game communication features to the console, as well as an Achievement-point equivalent Trophy system and other goodies.

"Summer" is the only official word Sony has given on 2.4's arrival, with June heavily tipped. The June 18 report from Dutch site PlayStation Only claims previous rumours of a June 10 release are false.

It's all speculation until Sony gives the official word, which we expect will be any time now.

For *bleep*s sake! Make up your mind Sony, if they have to take longer so it has no problems then that's fine but just give us a fixed release date!!

Yes, this is the one that lets you do that. Though I doubt the WHOLE XMB is available in-game.

It's been said that photos will not be accessible in-game.

As if you'd really need to view pictures in-game. So that makes sense.

See, now we're back to the 'in game communication'. Both direct, and ambiguous, at the same time. That means we'll gain the ability to send messages in-game.

BUT, because the feature's name (in game communication) is so direct, it implies it is just that. NOT in-game XMB....
