After many speculation about the game's gameplay, it has been finally confirmed from Japanese retailers that the game is a photography game. You can take pictures from jeeps, on foot and even from hot air balloons.

A Japanese online retailer has unveiled several details on the upcoming PlayStation 3 title, Afrika, including a release date and price.

According to the website, players will assume the role of a photojournalist who will be able to take pictures of various wildlife by foot, jeep or air balloon, as previously hinted at in various screenshots and trailers.

You’ll also be able to unlock various footage and real-life snapshots of the animals you encounter, which are collected and stored in your “Animal Library.”

The game will apparently hit stores in Japan on August 28, priced at JPY 5980.

Despite this, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) recently confirmed that the safari simulation title would not be coming to PAL territories, although this likely won’t stop gamers importing the title thanks to the PS3’s multi-regional capabilities.

Stay tuned for more information on Afrika as it breaks.

Pokemon Snap has already won, unless the giraffes can do a thunderbolt attack.

I can see this will be our third Lair. Nobody's gonna like this game.

I highly doubt it. The game is barely hyped up. And a lot of people would probably get this game. Personally I might get it. when I see some gameplay. Lair had a completely different thing going for it. It was supposed to be one of Sony's big hitters and hyped up like crazy. Only to fail because people didn't want to use SIXAXIS. Afrika is different.

I wonder if this game is just going to be a big open world? That would awesome!

Who wants to buy a photography game? I have nothing against Afrika, but let's be real here.

I'm a bit interested. But I wouldn't pay the full price for it....I might pick it up used in a year, or so, or something....

In today's mainstream gaming community, it's the FPSs and shooting/blood-filled games that get around. You don't hear anyone playing a game and bragging about a beautiful picture they got of a rhino.

Thats why this game will be overlooked like many other great games in the past.

I've been waiting for this game since before launch. Sheesh this game is definitely under wraps. I'll probably get it, depending on if it's an open world, how realistic it is, and what you can do with the pictures.

I actually did look for updated information for this game recently. It is nice to know that it hasn't been forgotten.

Who knows, if I get a good job, and it looks better than I imagine, I might even pick it up for full price....But only after other higher priority games, of course ^_~

I can't believe its taken them this long to confirm such a basic fact.

No one is going to get this game because no one will know anything about it
