Twisted | June 03, 2008 | News | DS
Handheld Learning has said today that all the teachers who attend the Handheld Learning Conferince this October will get a free DS lite, and also a free copy of Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training. The conference is about how technologies that teenagers and children often use could be used as great learning devices.
Handheld Learning has today announced that teachers who attend this year's Handheld Learning Conference in October will receive a free Nintendo DS Lite with a copy of Dr Kawashima's Brain Training.

The conference, now in its fourth year, explores how common technologies in the lives of young people can also be used as powerful learning experiences.

"Providing teachers with free Nintendo DS Lite's is not intended to be a gimmick, we expect our delegates to use them during the conference and experience an environment that would typically not be allowed in a classroom," said Graham Brown-Martin, founder of Handheld Learning.

The event runs for three days beginning October 13, 2008 and brings together many of the world's leading education experts, school leaders and policy makers, plus parents and children. The opening day is free to the general public and will feature a range of activities including an exhibition, seminars, games and competitions.

The event is supported by UK government agency, Becta, along with industry support from Nintendo and Apple.

"We are proud to be supporting this important event once again and look forward to hearing from the some of the world's leading thinkers in the field of learning. With over 70 million DS units in peoples hands we are genuinely interested in the positive impact that they can have for self-improvement and collaborative learning," said Darren Gorton, Business Development Director for Nintendo.

So, they want teachers to experience what a student wouldn't be allowed to do? Okay...

Well, kickass, free DS' for them. I'd laugh if instead of getting their teachers smarter, they get them hooked and have them playing it instead of teaching.

If my mom was a teacher I'd so make her go.
The moms will probably just give them to their kids, I'd go to some strange presentation to get a free DS Lite.
