What more is there to say if you've read even half of the title, both Playstation 3 games Eight Days and Getaway have been cancelled, or at least postponed. This move is apparently to reallocate resources to other projects which are closer to completion.

While no one is pointing fingers (yet) the recent the appointment of Shuhei Yoshida as the head of Sony Worldwide Studios may certainly be a factor in this drastic move, as it from the SWS that this statement was issued.

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has announced that it has stopped production on two PlayStation 3 titles that were in development at the Sony London Studio - Eight Days and The Getaway.

A statement from the Corporation read as follows: "It has been agreed that production of both Eight Days and The Getaway will cease immediately due to the redistribution of resources and budget.

"This decision was made following an internal review of all games and it was deemed that with the incredibly strong list of exclusive first party titles coming up both this year and in the near future, resource should be reallocated to enhance those projects closer to completion.

I actually think cancelling or postponing the Getaway is a good idea. Given the recent spate of violence and murders in London a game like the Getaway would have been liable to cause huge uproar.

I actually knew nothing of the games, but if they're crime/violence oriented games, I'll have to agree with Sphinx.

There's violence worldwide. Why would one location be worse than another?

Well it's a somewhat sensitive subject, combining certain areas with certain crimes, in games. Such as something like having a game with terrorists/terrorism, and the area in New York City. It's just best to avoid.

I know there is violence worldwide, but developers still need to be sensitive with their timing.

Ok, I'll agree that the PS3's exclusives list is definitely, DEFINITELY better than last year's, I wouldn't exactly call it 'incredibly strong.'
