Turbine, developer of such MMOs as Asheron's Call and, most recently, the Lord of the Rings Online has received $40 million dollars in equity investment from Time Warner and several other entities. Released in April of last year, LoTRO places gamers in the world of Middle Earth and pits them against the dark forces of Sauron.
Turbine, Inc. today announced that it has raised $40 million in equity financing. Time Warner Inc. (NYSE: TWX) and GGV Capital, a leader in expansion-stage venture capital investments in the U.S. and China, led the investment along with existing investors, Highland Capital Partners, Polaris Venture Partners, Tudor Ventures and Columbia Capital. The investment will be used to further accelerate Turbines growth as a global leader in online entertainment...
