So we've all heard about the rumor that some of Metal Gear Solid 4's cutscenes will be 90 minutes long? Well we finally have confirmation and it appears that the rumor is false.
In a strange move from Kojima Productions, they have finally revealed that there are no 90 minute long cutscenes in MGS4. Strange in the sense that assistant-producer Ryan Payton says: "I'm surprised nobody has stepped forward to debunk this rumor" ... well, Payton, nobody said anything because your company restricted people from saying how long the game's cutscenes were.
But if MGS4's cutscenes aren't as long as people were claiming, then you've got to wonder what the restrictions were for in the first place?
You've also got to wonder what Payton's idea of a "gross exaggeration" is. Does that mean cutscenes will be. 70 minutes? 60 minutes? 50 minutes? Being a MGS game, it wouldn't be surprising if some hit the hour mark.
Nonetheless, fans can expect a fantastic game.
Metal Gear Solid 4 Assistant Producer Ryan Payton tells Kotaku that the 90 minute cutscene claim is a "gross exaggeration." Hit the jump for his full statement and POSSIBLE SPOILER.
quote Ryan PaytonI'm surprised nobody has stepped forward to debunk this rumor. There are no 90 minute cutscenes in MGS4. The ending is long, but 90 minutes is a gross exaggeration.
And here I thought gamers liked long endings!
So there ya go, no 90 minute cutscenes and a lengthy ending says Kojima Productions.

It's nice to have official confirmation now, even if it is a little odd that Konami are announcing it despite not allowing reviewers to do the same.
Besides, a reviewer stated a while ago that 90 min cutscenes was false.
