It appears Bungie has confirmed what we already knew about the mysterious X button. It will indeed be the Bubble Sheild, and the Trip mines. Bungie is also hinting that the X-button also has a third function, which is yet to be revealed. He also assured everyone this "equipment" would be scarce, so the gameplay will not be unbalanced. We will also see the full function of X, the graphics, and actual gameplay for ourselves when the BETA releases in May.

In yesterday's post by Bungie.net staffer Frankie, what we already knew about Halo 3's mysterious X-button functionality was confirmed: It will be used to deploy equipment like the trip mines and bubble shields we saw in the recent Vidoc, and as of now is, appropriately enough, called Equipment. There's also some hinting about a third item that's yet to be revealed; we're hoping for nunchaku.

If it LOOKS anything like it did in the main trailer, it should be awesome.

It served as the 'reload' button, but they have since changed that to the RB and LB, for the respective weapons in each hand. This left the X button as an empty slot, which they have filled with the "power ups", and I'm guessing the Active Camouflage as well as the flash light
