The game Ferrari Challenge from Activision and System 3 will be making its way onto the Nintendo DS and Wii sometime in this late summer. They want it to be more of a simulation over an arcade racer, and was supposed to be first released in March 2008. There are some mods like Season, Time Trial, Quick Race, and Endurance. This could be one of the only Nintendo Wii's serious racing games.
Activision has today announced that it has signed a deal with System 3 that will bring Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli racing onto the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS late this summer.
Described as leaning towards a simulation rather than an arcade racer (but still promising accessibility) and originally touted for a release in March 2008, Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli features 15 international racing circuits on which to rip up the tarmac, and a variety of game modes that includes Season, Time Trial, Quick Race and Endurance.
Downloadable content such as cars, tracks and extra customisation options are all touted, but whether they arrive on the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS builds of the game (as appose th the Sony PlayStation 3 version on which we’d guess the feature is guaranteed), is another question altogether.
“Without a doubt, this is the defining Ferrari experience for video games,” said Mark Cale, CEO at System 3. “It has been a collaboration with professionals on every level and we’ve truly captured the power, beauty, and excitement that is the Ferrari Challenge Series. This excitement is taken to a whole new level with the partnership of Activision’s power within the North American marketplace.”
“For the last sixty years Ferrari has been synonymous with precision, performance and elegant design, so expectations for the game will be high from auto enthusiasts and racing game fans alike,” said Dave Oxford, Activision Publishing. “Everyone involved in Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli has been dedicated to ensuring this product over-delivers on the experience of this legendary brand.”
Could be good, especially as one of the Nintendo Wii’s only serious racers.
