Either the staff at one of the world's biggest gaming websites has gone mad, or they know something we only dream of. For some reason, Final Fantasy VII's page at 1UP.com has a release date inside: January 1, 2008. I highly doubt the release date is real, but are 1UP.com hinting that we should expect a remake announcement soon?

I thought they said they were never going to do a VII remake?! then again I heard that long long ago.. xD but still, wow. If they do a remake you can count me in as sold for a PS3. FFVII and FFXIII would be enough to convince me to get the console, $600 or not.

I am not a big Final Fantasy VII fan, but I might try it out as a Playstation 3 remake. I can't wait to hear more on this. Final Fantasy is an awesome series, and the Playstation 3 needs even more Final Fantasy games. =)

I'm still doubtful rumours of a remake have been floating around ever since FFVII footage was used for the PS3 technical demos, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I really hope this is true as the only thing that terminates me from playing FFVII again is the graphics and no voice overs. So hopefully it does arrive soon.

The graphics are classic PSX, though! how could you not love them? For me, I don't mind graphics or voice overs. A lot of the time the voices in voice overed games are so cheesy.

I dunno, but if they announce it, I will be really surprised. They should be working on newer games right now, not trying to live off of the older ones. I thought they would get some of the FFXIII games out before they even started this remake. It will be a nice treat I guess. It isn't my favorite FF, but I am interested in seeing how the game will look new and improved.

Yeah, well, we know that Final Fantasy isn't quite finished with it's VII-fest until they've drained the money out of that one. I mean, let's look at what we've got, Advent Children, Crisis Core, Dirge of Cerberus...

I'm with tekmosis, older games have a certain charm(I've spent more time playing my old snes and playstation games than my ps3 and xbox 360 combined) and voice overs can certanly be cheesy.

wow so they might really go for a remake after all. This is so good i wonder how the gameplay would be like ^^ it would be ok if they used the same system with the original ff7 but a new gameplay style would'nt hurt xD

They shouldn't change the gameplay imo. Maybe of the newer gameers complain about the graphics of the original, so if they remake it, just have better graphics and leave everything else alone.

Yeah I don't think they should do very much at all with the gameplay, it could be a very easy way to actually ruin a classic.

i think they should. gives a whole new gameplay experience to it. and like i said b4 with the buffed up graphics, the ATB is obsolete.

If its ever going to happen, it will be announced this year at the squex party or towards the 20th anniversary of Final Fantasy. If it isnt...it wont happen!

However doubtful I am, I have one thing to say.

    BOOYA!

Been waiting too long for this to happen, and I know I'm not alone in that.
