Schools To Get Playstation Development Kits

Krunal | June 06, 2008 | News | Playstation 2 Playstation 3
Developing a Playstation game has always remained a mystery, where exactly would you go to buy a development kit? Certainly not to your local computer store, however you need not worry anymore. A new Playstation-edu program for universities and colleges will see students being given a chance to to access the PS2 and PSP development kits.
We may just start seeing more 'home-made' games for the two consoles very soon...
The games industry is always on the look-out for new, talented engineers and programmers who understand how the hardware works under the hood. However, it isn’t possible to buy a PlayStation development kit at your local computer store and development for the PlayStation has remained a mystery, even to very interested individuals. It gives me great pleasure to unveil the mystery and announce the PlayStation-edu program! We expect this program to be a great tool to teach students about the PlayStation platforms.

Maybe this is Sony's extra plan to keep the PS2 alive while they continue performance on the PS3.
