Leo DiCaprio to star in Atari movie

chautemoc | June 07, 2008 | News | Company Misc
Actor Leonardo DiCaprio is now set to play Atari co-founder Nolan Bushnell in the upcoming movie Atari. The film will be more or less a biopic of Bushnell, telling the story of his involvement with Atari and how he came to change the world with his ventures. Paramount Pictures has picked this one up, with DiCaprio's company, Appian Way, producing.
The 33-year-old actor, last seen in 2006's The Departed, is no stranger to biopics. He's played rich recluse Howard Hughes in The Aviator, master thief Frank Abagnale Jr. in Catch Me If You Can and poet Jim Caroll in The Basketball Diaries.

Bushnell and Ted Dabney co-founded Atari Inc. in 1972 and are considered the founding fathers of arcade games, video game consoles and home computers. Their legacy includes the game Pong and the Atari 2600.

The 65-year-old businessman has been inducted into the Video Game Hall of Fame and the Consumer Electronics Association Hall of Fame, while also being named one of Newsweek's "50 Men That Changed America."
