Lately we've been hearing a lot from people from the video gaming industry wanting to give their opinions on the console wars. Many of the people have said that the PS3 will do better. Again, analysts from Lazard Capital Markets and DFC Intelligence have said the same thing, that the Playstation 3 will soon be the leading console. They say that the Xbox 360 will be in trouble in the coming year.

In the past few months, we've heard several groups from the video game industry give their opinions on the console war. Some of the more outspoken ones, including Electronic Arts and the President of Ready at Dawn studios, have expressed favor towards the PlayStation 3.

Analysts from Lazard Capital Markets and DFC Intelligence had the same sentiments, saying that the PlayStation 3 will soon be on top in the near future.

Now, analysts from the UK, Europe, and North America chime in with their own opinions, which they expressed at the Nordic Game 2008 conference. However, instead of focusing just on how big the PlayStation 3 will be in the future, they were more opinionated on the fate of the Xbox 360 and the Wii.

This guy is a genius. If a video game company stops making games people want to buy, they won't sell much. What a shocking revelation!

Truly shocking. The PS3 certainly will do better in the future once more price breaks arrive.

360 will suffer most when they make an attachment for the PS3 to play 360 games...that would be awesome.

It is a wonder that people get upset every time an analyst give an opinion. These people are simply paid to look at market trends and future products and make an educated guess as to which way the wind will blow.

They aren't loyal to any particular brand. They aren't paid by the brand either. They are quite literally weather men that predict economic trends rather than weather. You can give their thoughts about as much credence as the weather guys too.

Look how blatantly wrong they were about where the Wii would be by now. I don't think anyone predicted it would sell this fast. And when it did everyone thought it would peter out by now. Frankly I'm still waiting for production to catch up with demand before I even bother to try to buy one. And still I figured I would own one by now.

Well that's a bit of laugh but it's funny how everyone get set off by things like this. I mean i've been a Playstation boy since they came out, Xbox hasn't came into my mind of being bought. The Wii on the other hand, well my brother has one.

Well, golly, if the ANALYSTS say so, it MUST be true. When it comes to video games, most of these guys are more clueless than an average gamer. Look through enough of their past statements and that will become painfully clear. Most of them have a very feeble grasp of the real dynamics of the video game market.

Having said that, there statement on the Wii is probably relatively accurate: the installed base is huge, but much of it is due to casual gamers most of whom are satisfied with 2 or 3 games at the most, which means that eventually Wii will be knocked off its pedestal. And most likely sooner rather than later.

As to the PS3 vs. the 360, yes, the PS3 will eventually prevail. But not until Microsoft releases their next-gen console, which should be in the next 2 years.

So wait, these analysts are paid to predict the future as best they can? Do they get paid more than psychics?

They look at the numbers, do their research, but come on, how much can they really know compared to...well us? I'm sure most of us can agree that each console has loyal gamers, that the Wii is not a fad if it's this strong in sales, and that the 360 isn't in trouble because it's line-up is looking solid and the failure rates have dropped by a large portion.

I'm sure they know more than most of us. I wouldn't think the average gamer knows much about statistics, let alone actually researches detailed numbers. Because this guy is an analyst, I would think the numbers have told him that because of the contrasting sales numbers between the 360 and the PS3, the 360 has a lot of work to do to stay ahead. I would also think that basing the numbers on fads of the past, the Wii fits the bill. He might also have looked at future software releases for the consoles and maybe saw PS3 with a better future, or he may have noted the low attach rate of the Wii. This is what analysts do, as Koloth said above. I'm not saying I agree or disagree with his statements, but common logic is where I'm drawing these hypotheses from and nobody can fault these people for doing their job.

Good point. I can see how someone would come to this conclusion, based on sales at least. Wii's going off the shelves quickly, 360's sales have slowly declined (most gamers who wanted one probably already have one), and the PS3 is beginning to climb the charts.

The Wii is not a fad. I seriously thought it would be a megaflop when I first heard about it, but it is proving to be pure pwnage and the sales arent really slowing. 360 will do fine, and PS3 will hang in there too.

Lol, so called "Loyal gamers" are tards if all the do is base their choice on the console they got last.

    I had a ps2 and I got an xbox.

At the rate the PS3 is going, its going to be in more trouble than 360 and Wii combined.
I agree with koloth and iLL, but right now PS3 is in more of a deep hole than anyone.

The PS3 and XBOX 360 are both really a big it. He probably says that because the PS3 is cheaper and both systems have similar games.

It is? Where can I get a PS3 for $350? I've been holding off on buying one for a while now but this is great news.

Edit: You are all a bunch of *bleep*ing tools, nobody can answer my question but you thumb me down? Then you thumb Gamesta up because he is loyal to PS3 and doesn't own Msoft consoles. Every day you fags just prove how biased gamegrep is.

The loyal gamers part is stupid.Every console has loyal gamers.Half the reason we have fanboys is because they are the ignorantly loyal gamers.

I don't see being loyal to a console as a bad thing, it's only when you take your loyalty to far ie. being a fanboy.

I guess you could say I'm loyal to Sony consoles but in no way do I hate consoles besides Sony ones (except for the first XBOX ) In fact I rather like Nintendo consoles as well.Msoft consoles are the only consoles I don't at least own one of.
