The video games sales are expected to be revealed this Thursday and Michael Pachter, a Wedbush Morgan Securities analyst, believes the Wii will triple the number of units the 360 sold, and that the PS3 will sell slightly less than what the Xbox 360 sold in May.

In terms of hardware, once again Nintendo is expected to dominate. With the May NPD video game sales data expected this Thursday, analysts are beginning to chime in with their forecasts.

Pachter forecasts 750,000 unit sales for Wii, tripling Xbox 360's 250,000 units. The PS3 is expected to sell slightly less than Xbox 360 with 225,000 units. On the portable side, the DS is forecast to rack up another 550,000 units compared to 200,000 for the PSP. Finally, the aging PS2 is forecast to sell just 125,000.

No surprise that the PS3 would be outsold by 360, May didn't have great games for PS3, and the GTA4 didn't help much if any.

Edit: Wow -2 thumbs for stating something thats actually true. Haze was the big hitter last month and it didn't do anything at all. Then GTA4 didn't do much for the overall sales of the PS3 console. Whats the reason for the thumbs Sony fanboys? Scared of the truth?

Why predict numbers that will be coming out in a week? Perhaps if he was predicting sales numbers for this month, or next month it would be more interesting.

These forecasts rank lower than final blade's opinions.

NO I'M JUST KIDDING! But they do rank pretty low. (the forecasts)

People actually get payed to make these "claims"? I could have done that on these forums, gotten payed nothing, and probably been bitched at by some whining fanboys.

Are these "predictions" at all necessary?

I'd say that despite the 25,000 unit difference, PS3 and 360 are neck n' neck.

Even though the Celtics won last night, the Lakers rally in the 4th quarter evened up the series.

I'm honestly surprised the PS3 is still hanging in there, I mean there are very few good games (in my opinion, and in the opinions of many others and other converts). I think the main sustaining force behind PS3 is loyalty to Sony's past two systems (as I was, but then decided the PS3 was a waste of money when all the good games just come out on 360 anyways) and recognized and devoted developers like Square-Enix

Because MGS4, Uncharted, RFOM, and R&C:ToD just aren't good games...

I'm just saying I don't get how "there are no good games on PS3," even now.

          He never said that.

          He said
"I mean there are very few good games (in my opinion, and in the opinions of many others and other converts)"

Which is true IMO, bar MGS.

Well, 'in his opinion' is fine, but I don't know how he can speak for "very many others." I haven't exactly been hearing constant belly-aching around about lack of good games lately.

Unfortunately the one thing that's true is how we're always waiting for the 'worth-it' exclusives. 360 got a GotY nominee game off of its launch list, while we had Gundam Crossfire...

I'm sure you're one to speak about another console's games.

Who is this "Pachter" guy, and why does his opinion matter? Who cares what he predicts about sales. GOSH. Just wait a week and you will have actual numbers, not just some guy guessing.

I just recently got a Wii in February. I was looking for one this past September. I don't know how that could possibly be true because Wii's are almost impossible to find.
