Killzone 2 Ready To Take On Every New FPS On The Market

Linkin Park Fan | June 09, 2008 | News | Playstation 3
Guerilla has spoken up on Killzone 2. And they are very confident that Killzone will impress the audience, and not only that that they have lived up to the hype. They also said that the game is ready to rival Call of Duty 4 and every new FPS on the market. Pretty bold statement.
Killzone 2 developer Guerrilla Games has stated with confidence that it believes the highly anticipated First Person Shooter has lived up to the expectations of eager fans since the game debuted in trailer form at E3 2005.

"The level of anticipation for the 2005 trailer meant that people expected the biggest thing ever to materialize, and what we’ve shown so far, at last year’s E3 and today means that we’re living up to the expectation," commented Steven Ter Heide, Killzone 2’s senior producer.

Graphically, Killzone 2 has surpassed anything delivered on a console yet, with lifelike animations, facial expressions, and spectacular lighting and smoke effects. This combined with gameplay mechanics such as the "lean and peek" system, Killzone 2 looks set to deliver more than just a rudimentary FPS experience.

he firm also acknowledges the comparisons observed between Infinity Ward’s highly successful Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and virtually every new FPS on the market, though remains confident the studio can step up a gear when Killzone 2 hits shelves in February 2009.

"I’m not going to sit here and talk about the competition," said Guerrilla Games' Hermen Hulst. "COD is a game that virtually everybody in the office has played through and completed. We know where our game stands, and we’re up for it, definitely."

With over eight months left for development, Guerilla Games has plenty of time to ensure the title lives up to expectations when it releases exclusively for the PS3 early next year

Dammit, quit hyping PS3 exclusives. Even if it's amazing, it won't live up to being the 'savior' everyone wants it to be and get worse review scores than if it hadn't been hyped like it was forged by Jesus.

By doing this, they just doomed KZ2 as being the next Haze. TBH I don't think it'll be that great to begin with.

lol They barely even said anything. All they essentially said is that they are proud of their product and they feel confident putting it up against the competition, but you guys already pissed on it. Its no wonder why PS3 games get treated like a red headed step child.

Would you have said any less if it was your game? "Killzone 2 is ready for any other game out there...except for Call of Duty 4. There's no comparison there." How would that sound? There's a difference between making Itakagi statements or having respectful pride in your own work. Blame LPF if thats your justification.

Im just stating I can see how people will make that mistake due to his wording.

I mean yeah sure its pride in your work, but after the utter failure of KZ1 making bold statements like this is a big one. And people will take it like some has here.

While I loved how it looks so far, I don't believe its going to come out guns blazing on FPS's out already and CoD4.

It just creates unnecessary hype for a game no one knows to expect due to its first one failing miserably, and Haze hype turning out bad.

Failure of KZ1 Final Blade my god you don't know good games, KZ1 was a cult classic among those that gave it a chance, most didn't because "HALO FEVER!!!" was in full swing but it was a good game.

Many people have expressed the same thing that KZ1 was a failure. It was far too much hyped only to get mediocre reviews, and such.

However its irrelevant to my point though.

Wow. That is a pretty ballsy thing to say considering how their last Killzone game went. Hopefully this or Resistance 2 can at least be an above average shooter. Haze failed. So now all PS3 owners have to rely on when it comes to exclusive FPS, or any shooter for that matter, is Killzone 2 and Resistance 2. Hopefully they will do well. I just hope they spend most of their time making a great game, rather than spending it talking about how good it is and how it will be up against the other competition.

Read the article closely, you'll see that they never challenged the competition, they just "know where their game stands".

I don't understand why everyone's getting so hyped up about this game.

It's not as if the last one was any good.

Wait, didn't you say you were looking forward to this game? Maybe that was Sereph.

Anyways, people are hyped up becase pre-release trailers and gameplay videos have all looked superb so far.

Nah, I played the first one and didn't think it was that great.

I'll probably rent it, yeah, but it's not up there with MGS4 or Gears 2 in terms of anticipation.

One other thing...who's hyping what? Is there any advertisement for KZ2 anywhere? On that note, what should the developers say?

"With CoD4 out, I guess it's pretty much the pinnacle of FPS in the history of forever. It's a given that our product stands no *bleep*ing chance whatsoever, we just thought people would be interested to know."?
