2K Games today announced that Firaxis Games is developing Sid Meier's Civilization IV: Colonization. Described as a "reimagining" of the 1994 title Colonization, players are charged with exploring the new world as one of four European nations. The standalone game will have improved diplomacy options and modding tools along with a brand-new interface.
"We've received many requests from fans over the years to bring back Colonization and now seemed to be the perfect time to do that," said Sid Meier, director of creative development at Firaxis Games. "The Civilization IV engine provided a fantastic foundation for a new Colonization experience and allowed us to create something great for both new players and long time fans of the game."
Sid Meier's Civilization IV: Colonization will release on PC in Fall 2008.
