Yoda and Darth Vader make it onto Soul Calibur IV box-art.

Gothic Girl | June 10, 2008 | News | Playstation 3 XBOX 360
If Soul Calibur IV fans were hoping the Star Wars characters would remain a small part of the game, then you should probably turn away now.
Here is the Japanese box-art for Soul Calibur IV and, yep, there's Darth Vader and Yoda smack-bang in the middle.

First Guitar Hero kicks the bucket, now this... Soul Calibur IV has been dated and priced for Japan. That's good news!
Above is the official Japanese box art for the game, box art that features Darth Vader for the PS3 version. Yoda is on the Xbox 360 version's cover. That's, well, not such good news.

By putting these iconic Star Wars characters on the box doesn't it make Soul Calibur IV seem less like a Soul Calibur game and more like a Star Wars game? Yes, yes it does. You had a good run SC. Gonna miss ya.

    360's boxart is *bleep*ing lame.

Our Box-Art is a SCII rip. Exactaly the same, minus Link, Heihachi, and Spawn.

The PS3's isn't exactly great either

If Darth Vader and Yoda had been in the background it would have been better, but putting them up front just looks...wrong

Lame boxart this is. In the background, Yoda should be.

    [/obligatory Yoda grammar]

That's so stupid. The PS3 one looks kind of pleasing, but it's also a bit misleading. It almost seems to me like they're using the Star Wars thing as like a crutch. It's not like "Oh hey, we also have a Star Wars character in this game." It's like they want to be up front and almost snobby about it. Like Darth Vader and Yoda do the game so much more justice.

    Star Wars, yayyyyyy >_>

Can someone explain to me how a sword made of pure energy can get in a lock with a sword made of metal?

It might be a "Vibrosword" from KOTOR.

    No one knows, Oogity.

I think it's safe to say that we got the better box-art, even though Yoda and Darth Vader are on the cover.

What a stupid statement.SC2 had the exclusive character for the respective console on the cover and I don't think anyone felt it seemed more like a Zelda/Spawn/Tekken game.

While I agree with you, I still think Yoda and Vader weren't neccesary. It's kind of cool, IMO, but Vader's secret apprentice in the games as well? No thanks.

Oh well. The PS3 box is cool, 360's is dumb.

Doesn't matter. We don't get those awesome Box Arts, anyway.

Why do people think SC is dead just because it has SW characters in the game and on the cover? This is going on the comments on the actual article.

I didn't hear people complain that Heihachi was in SC2 or Link or Spawn.

It's not like they don't have a story as to why those characters are in the SC world.

People like complaining about things that they know nothing about. SC creators knows exactly what they're doing with brining in these new guest characters from SW, and its just going to bring in more fanbase and sales. You know how many star-wars fans will be like "Oh wow Vader and Yoda in SC4, Oh I must get this game". While it maybe sad they buy the game off 3 characters, it's still going be a money making machine.

So...you're assuming that vet fans of SoulCalibur know nothing about this whole Star Wars ordeal? Amazing, really. Did iLLmatic and Existenz not get through to you in the other thread? Guess not.

One of the biggest (and WELL-thought out) complaints is that they are selling out by adding 3 Star Wars characters. They are hyping up these characters so much, it should be called SoulCalibur: StarWars Saga. I'm serious, this is bs...SCII is different, because even though the guest characters were in the game and on the cover, they weren't broken or hugely hyped up like these characters are.

Storm, you are wrong. FB knows so much more than you >=(

Really though, I have to agree with Storm XD It might be a tactic in order to sell more, but at least put more SC characters on there if you want to put in the guest characters.

The only difference is storm those 3 star wars characters are big, its proabably the biggest characters in the franchise other than Luke and Obiwan.

No one is forcing you to play as them, like I said the creators know what they're doing. You guys make it sound they can't add them to the story why they could probably do so very well. If not then they're just guest characters which adds more fun in the game. Fighting games usual don't have much of a story. And if it does, probably a bad one. But so far thats the only complaint you, iLL and Nikki have actually used which isn't really much of a complaint.

It isn't much of a complaint, you say? Well...I beg to differ.

We're stating what we dislike, and giving VALID reasons why, does that not fall under 'complaint?' Oh yeah, they know what they are doing, milking extra cash out of any and all Star Wars fans, that's what. Or how about pushing their guest characters as if they were the real stars of the game?

          *sigh*

FB, as Storm said people have given their reasons as to why they don't like the boxart. Stop going on and on about how they are doing it to draw attention (as if we don't get that that could be a reason for the look).

Just give it up already. You are being annoying quite frankly (again)
