Today is the day of Microsoft's RPG Premiere 2008 in Japan, where the company is unveiling new RPGs to the console in an attempt to bolster the Xbox 360's pitiful last-place position in Japan. Most, if not all of the titles revealed today should make their way over to the West.

One of the new game announcements at this event is Star Ocean: The Last Hope, previously only known as Star Ocean 4. The game debuted with a CG-only trailer at the event. Originally thought to be a PlayStation 3 exclusive, it still remains to be seen whether or not The Last Hope will be an exclusive for the Xbox 360. However, currently, all signs point to the game being multiplatform between the two HD consoles.

The game's official site has been updated to reflect the name change, including a "For Xbox 360" bit. The game will see Japanese shores in 2009.

If it's 360 exclusive, then that's a shitty move. No one in Japan likes 360 and that's where the RPG market is the biggest.

And I was gonna get this game for PS3, too...

Damn it. I guess PS3 isn't reflecting its PS2 roots; Sony is no longer the RPG center anymore. In fact there are next to zero RPGs on PS3 right now.

They should be flashing money in front of SE and Tri-Ace instead of sitting on their arses and losing titles.
