Capcom "had no choice" but to set Resident Evil 5 in Africa!

Gothic Girl | June 11, 2008 | News | Playstation 3 XBOX 360
Capcom is doing anything to get rid of the racism claims that have been surrounding Resident Evil 5 since it's first trailer was released.

First Capcom revealed the apparent reasons for RE5's setting in Africa, then they announced that the game has not been redesigned after the racism issues arose.

Now, in a recent interview with producer Jun Takeuchi, Capcom are claiming they had "no choice" but to set Resident Evil 5 in Africa.

Resident Evil 5 Jun Takeuchi talks, well, Resident Evil 5 and explains why the game is set in Africa. Apparently, because of hints in Resident Evil Code: Veronica. Capcom had no choice! Takeuchi does forget to bring up the magnificent zombie mustaches. He should be ashamed.

lol @ No Choice. It's their creative decision, they can do whatever they want to. They actually could of located the game in Japan.

Code: Veronica hinted towards Africa?? I obviously missed something. Now watching the interview, I do remember the Progenitor Virus being mentioned in the game, I just don't remember anything about any reference to Africa.

On a side note...the word "Zombie" is getting thrown around too much.

That's the problem with this world. It's ok to kill any race in games as long as they aren't black.

I mean, %90 or more games revolve around killing white people and you don't hear white people say the developers are racist.

Again you don't hear people say that those movies are racist.

Also it's different for games than it is movies. How many movies that contain black people have the black people killed off while everyone that survives is white?

If you find these trailers racist, you are actually being offensive towards yourself. To actually see resembelance of "Zombie" Africans and the real thing, is just as much of an insult as to say that the two are the same.

Stop crying racism for everything and grow some balls, exactly like Ghost of You said, we didn't hear anything from the Spanish...was THAT Racist? Of course not, it seems things are only ever racist when the subject it pointed against a black person...

WTF are you talking about? The fact that people are bitching about Africa and the people of Africa being in a game is ridiculous. When the games were set in Spain, there was nothing to be said!! In my eyes, that is racism alone, you are clearly treating one race differently than the other by crying racism for the africans, but keeping hush for the Spanish. Double Standards my friend, Double Standards.

Not really. The "zombies" are based off African people, so naturally they look just like real Africans. It's hardly insulting towards Africans if someone can see the resembalnce.

No, my point was not one of seeing the similarities as in facial or any other type of physical appearance, but more of a similarity of the way they have portrayed the africans acting.

If this is not the case, then people are accusing this game of being racist, simply because it has black people in it. This is political correctness gone way too far.

where the F..k is the resemblance ? and where the hell did u get that from "zombies" are based off African people". that my friend is the first real insult i´ve heard or read about here.
Why make up issues where there´s none.i don´t want to say what i think about u and ur pathetic ranting.Let´s us just respect and leave the Africans alone. is that too much to ask.

Actually that isn't an insult.Zombies actually (from what I remember) actually originated form Africa and African's actually believe in zombies.

I watched a documentary about how zombies are "real" or at least Africans believe they are.
