Here are nineteen games that Nintendo was working on, but they totally forgot about making them, or just didn't want to anymore. R.I.P. Nintendo's forgotten games.

Atlantis. The Holy Grail. That episode of Star Trek where Captain Picard dresses in drag and does the macarena.

They are things lost forever to the cruel winds of time, and yet they continue to capture the imaginations of successive generations.

Gaming has its own graveyard of historical curios: half-born ideas and ill-fated projects that fell to the red pen of a corporate accountant.

They're called vapourware, and it looks like the Wii is on the cusp of its first two vapourware titles: the elusive Project H.A.M.M.E.R. and the mysterious Sadness.

But as we patiently wait to hear the final fate of those two titles, we decided to cast a tearful eye over past Nintendo games that were coldly struck down before they ever had the chance to fill a gamer's day with sunshine, to place a smile on the face of a child. These, friends, are the games that never were.

FF7 wasn't Nintendo's fault. I believe that Square saw greater potential on the PS1 so decided to make it future Final Fantasy titles on that instead.

Halo DS would have been cool, it would have probably been a major game. Too bad it isn't being finished.

Some of these were delayed onto another Nintendo console. Or remade/updated.

Well umm, they werent "working on" Halo DS, they were just the company who made the system it would've been on.

FF7 on N64 though? Wow. I didnt even know about that. Its weird to picture though. As Avalith annotated, I think it definitely fit better and saw greater potential on the PS1. Nevertheless, I'd love to see how it would've turned out.

It would have probably looked something like this:

That's Square's FFVI tech demo for the N64.

Ooh, thanks. That's actually just what I pictured it like. Now I want it.

Plus, Earthbound 64 became Mother 3.

    Dead Rush...

First time I read it was coming out for the PS2/Xbox consoles, if I'm not mistaken. I think GameInformer did a whole 3-4 page article on Dead Rush alone.

The hell is Final Fantasy Extreme? Wouldnt that be technically Squaresofts fault if that game never came out? Also why would we have wanted Final Fantasy IV on NES? It was a classic on the SNES.

I'm pretty sure Halo DS never actually existed. It was just a modded version of Golden Eye DS from what I understand.

      It existed. Proof here.

That doesn't really prove that some guy didn't just take Golden Eye and mod it to look like "Halo DS". Watch this, it should prove it

I think you believe it was a fake just based on the desire to say "you're wrong, it's a fake."
Umm, the video doesn't look anything like Halo DS to me, no more than any shooter looks like any other shooter. Maybe it used the same engine or something, but that's standard. And maybe some guy did just mod Goldeneye, but that also doesn't disprove the existence of the other title.

Anyway, it's IGN. Why would they lie about a title, especially one that's been canned? They'd be sued like crazy by some of the biggest names in the business.

Yeah its true, IGN said themselves. It was also confimed by Bunige.

I did some more research on it and apparently it was a modded version of Golden Eye. But it was made by Nintendo and EA as a sales pitch to Microsoft and Bungie. And how did the video not look like it? The guy explained why they were similar. The start up menus looked similar, the reticules looked similar (Halo normally has different reticules for every weapon), the grenade explosions looked similar, etc.

No, because it was made by EA they just used the Godlden eye engine rather than create a WHOLE new engine just for a small demo.

It was just a ptich to MS, the real game would have been different. MS gave it the go ahead and then some crap happened and it got canceled.

That's like exactly what I just said...? I doubt it ever got past that demo though, Microsoft probably just denied the offer from the start.

Chau thats actually incorrect I remember putting news on here long ago about Halo DS and it was nothing more but a modding game. I also done research later and found out they never had any plans to ever bring Halo to the DS, since its their game and MS exclusive franchise. They never said it was real or a work in process. It was a IGN member modding a game on a DS. I remember submitting the news last summer, it was one of my highest rating articles on here.

Yes, But you dont understand. MS gave it the go ahead as MS isnt in the handheld market.

Much like there are talks of Viva pinata ds.

And it obviously wasnt one of your highest rating articles as it doesnt say that on your profile.

Hmm, well I guess we both have points with this one, if your evidence holds.
I might not have looked at it closely enough I guess, but they looked different enough to me.

They were going to have SimCity for Nes? It's also surprising that Final Fantasy IV is on there. You would think that they would of came out with it. Being the popular game that it is.
