Nintendo is suing Nyko over the Wireless Nunchuck that they released because they believe that the wireless Nunchuck infringes on Nintendo's patents. Nyko says that they didn't know what they were doing, and didn't think it would violate the intellectual property.

At a glance, Nyko's wireless Kama Nunchuck (pictured) appears plenty different from Nintendo's first-party Nunchuck controller, simply because Nyko's offering is wireless, and Nintendo's isn't.

But Nintendo believes that Nyko's wireless Nunchuck infringes on its patents, nonetheless.

According to Bloomberg, Nintendo is suing Nyko, claiming that the peripheral maker's controller "wholly appropriates the novel shape, design, overall appearance and even the color and materials used in the Nintendo Nunchuk controller."

I love the bit where it says "They didn't know what they were doing" Were they drunk? I'm assuming it's a periphral for the Wii, so why should Nintendo sue them? Surely it will help sell consoles.

I would never use that Nunchuck if you were to be boxing

Really ? Because whenever I play Boxing in WiiSports, I get really into it and the cord keeps getting thrashed around and gets tangled. A wireless Nunchuck would be great.

I guess it would kind of hurt their own nunchuck sales.

But thats like MS or sony suing madcats or other companies for making a controller for their console.

They will just recall them, say sorry to nintendo and wont make periphral for them again.

Yeah but those are licensed products. This probably was not.

Last I heard, Nintendo was thinking about releasing their own wireless Nunchuck. They probably don't want a third pary cornering the market on that.

And after the whole Xbox 360 Nyko Intercooler thing, I personally don't trust their products anymore.

Good idea, wire is annoying. then again if they were planning to make there own, they should sue, but more people will buy the official nintendo one anyway, instead of the other.

It seems like a good idea. Especially for boxing. But the nunchuck and the controller are alway right next to each other whenever you play. So I would play either way. With a wire or without.
