The creators behind Wild Arms 5 and Wild Arms XF, Media Vision, have set to work on a Wizard of Oz RPG for the DS. No joke. They've anagramified the name, dubbing it Riz-zoawd. D3 is set as the publisher, and the title is confirmed for Japan, though no release date is announced as of yet.

While Riz-zoawd (an anagram of Wizard-Oz) isn’t the only game where you search for the Wonderful Wizard of Oz, it is the only RPG.

As seen in the character art above, the genre shift changed the Tin Man into a bell shaped Golem. Great. Who is responsible for this? Surprisingly, Media.Vision, the creators of the Wild ARMs franchise. They’re working with D3 Publisher to release the game in Japan at an unannounced date. Even more interesting is Riz-zoawd will be Media.Vision’s first console game on a Nintendo platform. Good for them!

Good to see the Media.Vision guys back at work on something, though Wizard of Oz was unexpected. That Scarecrow looks like he wants some brains all right... human brains.

Aww, way to *bleep* up a good story. I wouldn't have minded a Wizard of Oz RPG if they could do it right, but changing the characters and story is just annoying. Why not just make a new game?

Now I really wish American McGee would hurry the *bleep* up with his Oz title.
