"MGS4 is only the beginning for the PS3 this year" says Steinberg

Steinberg says that Metal Gear Solid 4 is only the beginning for a pretty good lineup of games this year for the PS3. Following this is LittleBig Planet, Resistance 2, and Motorstorm Pacific Rift, to name a few. With all the games out and coming out, the PS3 is getting harder and harder to shy away from.

The launch of the brilliant MGS4 is "only the beginning" of a rush of triple-A PS3-exclusives, says Sony's seemingly pleased VP of product marketing, Scott Steinberg

With some of the console's big titles like Gran Turismo 5: Prologue, GTA IV and Singstar now out the door, Steinberg paints a positive picture for PS3 owners for the rest of the year.

"This is only the beginning of an ongoing software avalanche for PS3 that includes titles such as LittleBigPlanet, SOCOM: Confrontation, MotorStorm Pacific Rift and Resistance 2 that only PS3 owners will be able to exclusively enjoy," said Steinberg.

    None of those games he mentioned will even come close to the hype/sales that MGS4 recieved. No doubt they'll be good games, but this guy's dreaming if he thinks they're going to create as big an impact on the PS3 as MGS4.

    Those titles won't even touch MGS4. FF13 and maybe GOW3 are the only exclusive PS3 titles that will be good enough compete with MGS4.

    Oh hey, the next Peter Dille, huh? It only took you a couple of years to roll some exclusives out, and MGS4 wasn't Sony it was *bleep*ing Konami so stop making it look like you had shit to do with anything.

    I don't think he was talking about the hype, just talking about how the drought of good PS3 games is over, with all those games coming later this year. We have something to look forward to, other than MGS4.

      As much as I love GoW and GoW2 (played through both with my roommate) I don't think the hype will be as large as MGS4. But, you never know, we'll just have to wait and see.

        Since MGS4 isn't everyone's type of game, God of War 3 could probably reach out to those that weren't touched by it, while at the same time having fans of MGS4, too.

    I do think that resistance 2 and littlebigplanet will sell really well. Maybe not as much as mgs but they will be system sellers. I work with all 360 owners and most said other then gears 2 they cant wait 2 play resistance 2. And LBP is getting hyped alot, and if it lives up 2 the hype who knows.

    You know, this is just adding unnecessary hype for those games. While LBP will be a success, they are in different leagues.

    If MSG4 is just the beginning, I can't wait to see everything else. Littlebigplanet, Home... this year's gonna rock for Sony.
