A New XBOX360 Bundle Released in Japan!

mettaur_15 | April 15, 2007 | News | XBOX 360
Microsoft released a new bundle for XBOX360 system in Japan. The bundle includes an XBOX360 (Core), Eternal Sonata - Bandai's latest RPG, and a bonus soundtrack CD.
To celebrate the release of the Xbox 360's newest RPG title, Trusty Bell (known as Eternal Sonata outside of Japan), Microsoft is releasing a special Xbox 360 bundle pack. The bundle will include the Xbox 360 Core System, a wired controller, all of the standard AV cables, a free month-long Xbox Live gold membership, and of course, a copy of Trusty Bell. Packaged in a green box with Trusty Bell artwork, the package is officially called the Xbox 360 Core System Trusty Bell Chopan no Yume Premium Pack. Those who buy the bundle will also receive a bonus soundtrack CD, which is also available to people who pre-order the title.

Last year, Microsoft launched a similar campaign for Blue Dragon, and sold it for the very reasonable price of 29,800 yen (or around US$250) for the system and game. No price has been set for the Trusty Bell package yet. Trusty Bell has a scheduled Japanese release date of June 14, and North America will be seeing this title sometime in 2007.

    Japan always seems to get the better end of the deal when it comes to promotions and such. Now, if only they would release a bundle deal like that here in North America. I'm tempted to buy a 360 but at the same time I'm not. Things like this would help influence my purchase

    Are they trying to bribe Japan with colorful RPGs to buy a Microsoft product? Seriously though, I wish we got these bundles. They seem quite cheap and have good games in them. ^^;

    I complete agree with you there, Tek. I'm still waiting to see if they're going to make a bundle for Blue Dragon. If they decide not to, I'll definitely take the Eternal Sonata bundle if it hits NA.

    Well basically it's no much of a bundle. All you get is a game. There is many bundles like that in the U.K. Not only do you get one game but you get two also.

      They also get a soundtrack CD too. I love the CDs with the music from the games on them. We don't have many bundles here, and the ones we do get, you usually have to wait until it's a while after the system comes out (like this case I guess), and I like to get things on launch. And if they are on launch, they are super expensive. ^^;

      We get "bundles" here but I'm pretty sure that they're store based promotions, only and not really a "microsoft" thing. Basic things like the "sports bundle" and of course two stores have it with different games. One store may give you one more game than the other store would, etc. I haven't seen anything decent / good like this Trusty Bell bundle.

    It's obvious why they're doing it though. The xbox 360 doesn't seem to sell that great in Japan. Releasing a box set with an rpg seems a good way to get the Japanese market to purchase one.

      Actually, I heard XBOX 360's have been and still are selling like crazy after Blue Dragon was released. I'm not exactly sure about what percentage of the total sale that was, but it's above 50%. With these new RPGs being released in Japan recently, the market for 360 has been increased significantly. I don't think they needed to make this bundle, to be honest.

    From the sales list posted up by I think tekmosis? for Japan last week, only 5000 or so 360s had been sold, while 50000 wiis had been sold.
