That right folks, IGN have put up their first look at Guitar hero World Tour but is it enough to take on Rock Band? New to the lineup is the Drums and the microphone for vocals. But that's not all, aswell as the new additions it looks like the guitar has gone under for a few changes which sees it have a touch pad on its neck. Expect big things.

World Tour is expected to be released later this year in a bid to rival Harmonix's Rock Band and will be released on Playstation 2, Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and the Wii.

World Tour lets you become the rock star in every way possible -- from playing the tunes to making the music itself. I got my first look at the next game in the hit franchise and there's no doubt about it: I'm impressed. Neversoft and Activision didn't sit on their laurels and pump out a cash-in sequel. There's so much new here that it's tough to decide where to begin

Amazing, i was not expecting this. I didn't buy Rock Band as i didn't feel it was revolutionising enough, this though is what i was waiting for.

Good review, I might just get this because of the drumset.

I'm wondering though, why are they making GH and RB as similar as possible?

Touch pads. Good. I was just thinking a few weeks ago how they would change their guitar, and touch pads were really the only option. Glad they went this route, though I'm still up in the air whether or not I'm going to buy it as I've already invested so much in RB so far. I'll probably end up getting it, but just the guitar maybe. I don't know.

I'll need to see the tracklist first because what I've got on RB is pretty much as many tunes as GH1,2, and the '80s put together.

it isn't that mysterious if you use your head, Its a pad you touch to control something. Featured on nearly every laptop ever made.

If it costs £180/$360 like Rb did though I'm still not getting it..

You could buy four MGS4s for that price..

I'm going to stick for Rock Band due to the fact they simply have better songs and I prefer Harmonix.

I wonder what song(s) they're putting in for Van Halen. Although Eruption would be awesome, it doesn't have any vocals or bass (and very little drums). My guess is Hot For Teacher. Possibly Panama or Unchained though. Just because those would appeal most to modern day video game players.

That... was epic to say the least.

The game is supposed to feature Vicarious, Schism and another Tool song... so that holds sway on my end.

However, I don't think that Guitar Hero should go the route Rock Band did. I believe they should focus more on the guitar aspect; I remember some one is developing a homebrew game on Linux that is Guitar Hero-esque but uses a real guitar so you can learn how to really play songs.
