Boris Johnson, the Mayor of London, wrote an article for today's edition of thelondonpaper, which cites video games as one of a number of influences on the current knife culture within the city.

Boris Johnson, the Mayor of London, has written a piece in thelondonpaper citing violent video games as influential upon the increasing knife culture in London.

Whilst it is undeniable that the gang culture within London has reached new heights with the spate of murders over the past 6 months, there is some question as to how far the public fear is justified, with less than a third of murders involving a sharp object.

*sigh* Why, why must we put up with stupidity!? Games dont influence people to do anything they didnt want to do in the first place!

Its only knife violence because they aren't allowed to own REAL weapons.

They already took away those rights - now they are attacking video games too, gimme a break.

This is Boris Johnson. He's an idiot all round. How he became Mayor of London I'll never know =/

I suppose that says something about us Brits ...

Well, to summarise incredibly briefly. Labours had it's long run, people are growing disillusioned and believe the Conservatives will solve all the problems facing the country. And the Lib Dems who are actually sensible, being the Lib Dems, will continue to be ignored for a long time regardless of how good their policys are.

We're used to electing idiots, moaning about it, but then not exercising the power of the vote and accountability come election time.

I realise this has no relevance to gaming ... but you have to live in the UK to fully appreciate how stupid Boris Johnson is .

It says something about Londoners, not Brits.

And the reason he became Mayor of London is because the only other option was Ken Livingstone,

Gang violence in London is escalating. Weapons are more readily available. There's more pressure to carry them. Games might be having an effect, but there are definitely other things causing the violent attacks.

I am so sick of people saying that violence on TV and in video games cause actual, real life violence. That is rubbish. Just because I play GTA IV doesn't mean I am going to go out an kill people for the hell of it. Just because I watch Teletubbies doesn't mean I am going to turn a strange colour and sing about magic vacuum cleaners all day.

Boris Johnson .. Shut the *bleep* up.

Well, this is Boris Johnson, what do you expect.

When asked "Have you ever slept with a man?", his version of a politically-correct answer was "Not yet".
