NVIDIA has announced a LAN party which will attempt to set the record for the world's longest of its kind. Taking place August 25 in San Jose, California, entrees must play for a minimum of 36 hours non-stop. Hope they'll have medics on hand.
There'll be a bunch of rewards for winners; to sign up visit the source.
Rules:
* The attempt will start at 11:00 P.M. on Monday, August 25th and end at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, August 27th
* You must bring your own computer system, sit in the Guinness World Records section in the GeForce LAN BYOC, and connect to the LAN
* You can play any video game of your choice with other participants
* Switching to a different game during the attempt is permitted
* You are allowed 10 minutes of break time for every 60 minutes you spend playing (for example, you play non-stop for 6 hours you receive a 60-minute break)
* You must play in 60 minute increments to accumulate your 10-minute break. Partial increments will not accumulate break time (for example, if you play to the 1 hour and 20 minute mark and decide to take a break, you will only have accumulated 10 minutes of break time; if you take the 10 minutes of break time, then come back, you must then play a minimum of another 60 minutes before you can take another break; the extra 20 minutes you played in your first interval will count toward your total time played, but will not count toward any break time credit)
* Actual playing time and break time counts toward your 36 hours needed for the Guinness World Record
* You may accumulate break time into larger blocks and take your breaks at any time you like (for example, you can play 5 hours non-stop, then take a 50 minute break; if you plan carefully you may be able to take long breaks which will allow you to participate in other activities at NVISION)
* You may consume food and drink while the record is in progress
* You may not participate in any official tournaments as these will interfere with the attempt
* Participants must be in good health and be over the age of 14 by August 25, 2008
* If you are under the age of 18 you must have the Parental Release Form signed by a parent or legal guardian. No one under the age of 14 is allowed to participate in the attempt.
* Everyone will be asked to sign the Guinness World Record Attempt Waiver before participating in the attempt.
