European gamers who have Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, will be in for a nice surprise this Thursday (June 26th) when the Metal Gear Solid 4 Database will finally be released for them.

Konami has announced that a free downloadable add-on for Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns Of The Patriots will be made available on PS3 on Thursday (June 26th) in Europe.

The Metal Gear Solid 4 Database is a comprehensive archive detailing characters, weapons and plot elements from 1987’s original Metal Gear title right through to the most recent title.

According to Konami, the system allows users to search via three central hubs: GENE (a glossary), MEME (which maps the relationships between characters in the series), and SCENE (a timeline for the series).

Users can jump from page to page using specific keywords, with the relevant information appearing instantly. All information relating to Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, however, can only be accessed when the software detects a save data file created when the game has been completed, as to avoid spoiling the final adventure.

A statement from Konami reported: ‘Metal Gear Solid 4 Database is a stunning – and completely free – companion to the series, and will answer any question pertaining to Hideo Kojima’s games and characters.’

    It's 77MB.

I'm happy Europe is getting this, too. I actually live in the U.S. but I think it would be ridiculous if Europe didn't get it. I wonder why it was delayed for Europe???

Most likely localisation, assuming there's a selection of European languages in the package.

That's why I hate Aus basically being Eu when it comes to gaming. If we got our stuff differently, we could have already got it.

Has always taken longer for the EU to get game add on's. It might also have something to do for the Spain strike which meant Spain Got the game about a week later
