Well, this looks legit to me.
It appears that there are 4 levels of 'trophies'. These levels are; Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. It is natural to assume that the more 'valuable' the trophy, the harder it'll be to unlock.
This article also outlines the (rumored) way in-game XMB will function.
As a guess on my part, I'm thinking that platinum trophies would be reserved (generally) for things like; Beat on Insane/Very Hard (the hardest) difficulties, difficult online accomplishments (ex. be first in a deathmatch X number of times), and completing a game 100%. I'd think that you can only get either 1, or at most, 3 platinum trophies in a game.
I wonder if developers are limited to the situations and amount of Platinum trophies they can hand out? Ditto with the other levels of trophies....
Since there is supposed to be maintenance to the PSN later today (June 24th), that lends some additional credence to rumors that firmware 2.4 will becoming soon. Let us hope it is true!
It seems as though last weeks announcement of the soon to be released firmware version 2.40 has sent the internet ablaze with speculation as to when it would be going live. From a recent posting on the PlayStation Blog, Eric Lempel revealed that the new firmware would provide in-game access to the PS3's "Xross Media Bar," PSN Trophies, and some new features that have yet to be announced.
Many have wondered what format these PSN Trophies would be presented in and it seems that the internet has found a way to leak out a screenshot of a PSN trophy card. Coming from an insider tip from a contributor known as "The Patriots" over at PS3Fanboy, this person revealed the first indications of what PS3 owners could possibly expect upon release of Firmware version 2.40.
The screenshot shows the user's avatar in the upper left hand corner of the Trophy Card with a breakdown of the user's trophy collection. The collection is broken down into four categories: Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze, however details are a bit hazy on what merits each. The Trophy Card also seems to have 3 pages (the two pages featured below are unofficially labeled "gamercard" and "compare"), which appear to be able to be cycled through with the L1 and R1 buttons, but again, no formal indications are given to their specific functionality.
