Nintendo More Popular Than An Orgy?

Gothic Girl | June 25, 2008 | News | Wii
The New York Times recently reported on a trial in Florida where a man is being convicted for the distribution of obscene materials (i.e. Porn).
His lawyer, Lawrence Walters, has taken an interesting approach to the case. He is trying to prove to the jury that something is only obscene if it violates "typical American values".

And what better way to find out what Americans find acceptable than to check Google for the most popular web searches! "Orgy" is one of the most searched for items, but gamers will be interested to know that "Nintendo" is even more popular!
"We tried to come up with comparison search terms that would embody typical American values," Mr. Walters said. "What is more American than apple pie?” But according to the search service, he said, “people are at least as interested in group sex and orgies as they are in apple pie."

The Google service does, however, show the relative strength of many mainstream queries in Pensacola: "Nascar," "surfing" and "Nintendo" all beat "orgy."

Just because Nintendo is searched more than "Orgy" doesn't mean its not obscene.

That's not the point. The lawyer's original point was that "orgy" is one of the most searched for words on Google, thus indicating that most Americans find orgies acceptable enough to look at. (and not obscene).

He might not win the case with an opinion like that, but it's creative nontheless.

Wow, what a waste of public time and money. For the record I NEVER use Google to search orgy......otherwise it might be #1 LMFAO I'm thinking people know where to find an orgy but not a Wii.....LMFAO

What do you mean public time and money? The defendants lawyer did it.

Well besides the court and the jurors who are stuck there, I was also assuming it was a public defender.....but it was wrong of me to assume that. Either way it does waste time and money to go through these court antics.

Let's think of it this way. How many people actually have to google the word "orgy" in order to figure out how to do it?

Well Nintendo is only popular cause of milking Mario, Zelda and Metroid.

    But its still funny though.

Final Blade the fanboy strikes again. You expect Nintendo to be popular for something other than producing great games and satisfying demand for there top series?

I decided to do a search on the wierdest thoughts I could come up with, apparently ´dark botherhood´ was more popular than ´world domination for a while in early 2006.

You guy do know the definition of "Orgy" is basically meaning when 4 or more people are doing the same exact thing at the same time. Because, for all the people on the internet right now, are having an Orgy. Isn't that funny? xD
