Despite rumors on the internet that Valve would be showing Half Life 2 Episode 3 at E3, Valve's marketing boss Doug Lombardi has said otherwise, saying that Ep. 3 would not be showing up, and that Left 4 Dead would be the main focus.

Valve marketing boss Doug Lombardi said that the next installment in the Half-Life franchise would not be showing up at E3 2008, shooting down rumors that began circulating the Internet yesterday.

But, he said that a "playable Left 4 Dead will be on display in a Valve-hosted suite."

Half-Life 2: Episode 2 launched relatively recently (October 2007), but the franchise's loyal fanbase is already ready for more.

In the absence of Episode 3, Left 4 Dead will be Valve's focus at E3. The game is a multiplayer co-op-focused zombie FPS that has been generating positive buzz among the games press.

Left 4 Dead looks amazing. I don't mind if they don't show ep. 3. As long as they're working on it. Which I'm sure they are.

That being said, they have to sell Left 4 Dead. Not so much with Episode 3. I'm buying it day one, no matter what. I'm sure I'm not alone on that thought.

What the *bleep* is going to be at E3 this year? All I can see is a load of Shovelware for the the Wii and a lot of other lackluster shit. We'll be lucky to see one or two good games this year.

I'm with Seproth- as long as L4D releases in a timely manner - I don't care whether or not they show.
