Rumour - There are two things that Blizzard want before Diablo 3 appears on a console - the gameplay to remain intact, and for PC gamers to be able to play with them.
Would this suggest that the 360 would be the only console to receive this gift from the gaming gods?

Discuss in the Diablo III forum

Blizzard COO Paul Sams has suggested that there is the possibility of bringing Diablo 3 to the console market, but suggested that he would want to see console gamers able to play against PC players. "One question mark I have is whether the console owners would allow PC players to play against console gamers." says Sams, "I think the answer gets a lot easier if the console owners say yes. But at the moment they do like to have closed systems."

They've not said anything about it, and I can't see Microsoft being very happy about such a title using Battle.net rather than Xbox Live, so I'd say that if it is on the consoles at all we don't know at this point that it will only be on the 360.

Yeah, I doubt the Battle.net server usage wouldn't bode over well with Microsoft, but then again, I don't really know anything on the subject, so it's not like I can talk.

I'm pretty sure D3 will keep its' PC exclusitivity, which I think is fine. I have one of the copies of the original for Playstation and it's so much more difficult to play with a controller. You'd absolutely have to have a mouse and a keyboard to enjoy it as much.

Another problem is limitations with consoles. With any given console, the game can only perform within the limitations of the console. PCs are virtually endless with their capabilities, provided to have the power to back it all.

If this comes to fruition it will be really good news for people with low-end computers. (me)
I'd love to play with my friend, who will no doubt purchase this on his PC.

I honestly doubt this will come out on any console...

Agreed. Call me blind, but I fail to see the stirring evidence in the article that points to the 360?

Blizzard likes to keep their PC games on the PC, ever since the failure that was the PS1 port of D1. If it will be cross-platform, console players will just get owned by PC players in every duel.

Lol, D1 came out on the PS1? I never knew that. It must have not been popular then.

People are forgetting (or they don't know) that you can use the 360 controller on the PC. If you want to play the game on your 360 just use the controller with your PC

I highly doubt that Diablo III will be coming out for the 360. As mentioned in these comments people would need to go through Battle.net and Microsoft would not look so kindly onto that seeing how they have XBOX Live and all. Not only that but PC users with a mouse/keyboard combo have an advantage over someone with a controller.

Pit someone in any FPS game on a console versus a PC user. Majority of the time the PC user will win. This is why games aren't cross platform interactable.

What about that game that let xbl users play against PC players, Forgot name.

      It worked pretty good though.

You'd need to run a mouse and keyboard though, otherwise you'd get severely wtfpwned, you know? Diablo is pretty much designed around the usage of mouse clicking and hot keys. I've never met anyone whose ever seen a copy of the D1 PS1 port, let alone heard about it, but I have it, and can totally vouche for the increased difficulty. The game itself isn't any different, but the controls are a lot harder to use with precision. Scrolling the cursor with a joystick takes forever, and you can't regulate the speed at which it moves like you can with a mouse.

People would do nothing but bitch about the console versions.
