There was a rumor going around that Kratos would be testing his blade against Darth Vader and his secret apprentice from the Star Wars universe in the upcoming PlayStation 3 version of Soul Calibur IV.

However thanks to a podcast made by 1UP the rumor was quickly smashed , stating that Kratos will be absent from Namco’s upcoming game. But, there still is the strong possible that he could be included in future planned downloadable content.

We have the Force, but we can't have the God of War himself? Screw you, Namco.

I'm with you.I'd rather Kratos than Star Wars characters.

I beg Namco to at least make Krato's as DLC.

Well I'll wait to hear official word from Namco, since they didn't say yes or no when questioned, but this still *bleep*in sucks. I still hate the fact that they threw in these out of place Star Wars characters just for obvious attention.

That would have way too many cameos, to be honest.

According to some info on various sites, it's correct. Unless there's some super-duper-uber way of getting Kratos that no one may know about, not even the developers, looks to be true...all I can say to that is (quoting the Scout): 'This sucks on ice!'

Thought so, it seemed far to unlikely due to its late development. I don't know whether they will add him in with DLC, its all possible, but still unrealistic. Im sure R@D said no about that.

Why are you still saying Ready at Dawn? All they did was make the PSP game. They have no say at all in regards to anything God of War. It's not their IP.

They developed the game. Its their title. But since they're under Sony its their platform.

They developed the PSP game, God of War: Chains of Olympus. David Jaffe and his team at Sony Santa Monica Studios created God of War. God of War is Sony's IP. Do you know what an IP is? If Ready at Dawn was under Sony, why would they be leaving the PSP behind and developing for the Wii?

Thats not the name of the developers team, thats the name of the studios where they work on the game. God of War 1 and 2 both had Read at Dawn helping with the making of those games, God of War 3 is not going to be different.

If not in the starting roster, than as DLC.....

I also expect that, eventually, the 'console exclusive' characters (Yoda and Vadar) will eventually be seen as DLC for the opposing console....

I would rather have kratos over darth vader.

Wouldnt that be overkill? I mean his bladeds of chaos was too much range and nobdy would be able to get near him, sounds cheap as hell to me. Plus if he grabs someone he rips them in half, that shit aint fair.

A lot of characters have long range weapons. Kratos ain't gonna be ripping nobody in half either. So many people say he would be unfair. It's obvious they wouldn't rip him right out of God of War and throw him in the game. He would be given a move set that makes him playable.

        Zero and X Jul 6, 08
That bit about ripping in half was a joke, but I dont really see how it would work. I played SC2 and 3 and yeah some characters had long range weapons, but nothing on the ridiculousness of the Blades of Chaos. I am sure if he was put in the game they would tweak him so he wouldnt be completely unfair, but that would be very limiting.

What nullifies that whole argument, in my opinion, is the fact that bonus characters are always going to be unbalanced by nature. Have you seen videos of Yoda in action? Complete unadulterated rape. I haven't seen much of Vader, but I'm sure he is a little on the power side too, along with his little crony. My whole point is that I probably agree with you that it might be overkill to also have Kratos in the game, but I think he would be a much better fit instead of these Star Wars characters.

Not directed at you, but it really confuses me when I hear so many people say that Kratos would be too powerful, knowing damn well that we have Jedis and Siths in the game.

Right on, iLLmatic. Kratos would indeed be a better fit than Star Wars characters. He can easily fit into the storyline...Ares is in the storyline. And, unique weaponry. Yes it's long range, but that's both a strength and a weakness of his weapons you could say, and I'm sure they could balance him out better than say...Yoda.

Besides, there's long range users at it is, even a projectile here and there if I recall.

          Zero and X Jul 7, 08
Oh I agree, the star wars characters are overkill enough on their own, which is another reason why I think having Kratos would be overkill. Still though he fits the mood better, but its not really that hes so strong that makes him unfair, its just the blades of chaos really, those things are just way too lengthy. Tbh I think Dante would be a better pick for soul caliber since he can be a really balanced and fun character, but hey thats me.

          Storm Jul 7, 08
I never thought about Dante. Capcom can guest star him in both versions, and his style changes can bring in some refreshing gameplay. But I think they would make him too similar to Siegfried, only a little faster...still, if they could incoporate him somehow, I'd be impressed.

Final Blade man, damn I wish I was as persistent as you. Yes, I know Sony Santa Monica Studios is where the game was developed. The company that developed it? Sony Computer Entertainment. They do make games, you know. Why is the director of Chains of Olympus, Ru Weerasuriya, nowhere to be noted in the first 2 games? Do you even know who David Jaffe is? Show me any type of evidence, any credits, sources, something, that shows Ready at Dawn created and originally developed God of War and I will gracefully concede.

Also (and you're gonna have fun with this one), explain to me why Ready at Dawn, who you say is under Sony, is developing for the Wii, including the already released port of Capcom's Okami?
