DC Universe MMO: first look

Sony Online have given out some small but interesting screens for the forthcoming DC Universe MMO.

Also, on the game's Myspace page (it doesn't seem to work, though), SOE is inviting people to help market the game by adding them as a top friend in exchange for entry to its Comic-Con party. Details below.

Also on its Myspace page, SOE is inviting people to help virally market the game for a chance to attend its Comic-Con party in a few weeks. By making its page a top Myspace friend, people can win a shot at entry into the party. And speaking of Comic-Con, that's where the first public showing of the MMO will be, so make sure to stay tuned for that later this month.

    That ... is the creepiest *bleep*ing Joker head I have ever seen in my life.

    If the animators' goal was to deeply disturb the shit out of whoever plays, they succeeded.

      When I was at SOE's meeting room, they showed some concept art done by Jim Lee, and it was (of course) very beautiful work. They tried to make it a direct translation of his art in the game, and it really turned out kinda strange in the Joker's case.

    It's an MMO...with how huge it's meant to be, I can see why they wouldn't go the limit in graphics, even though it is on the PS3...meh, doesn't worry me, they are comic characters and I honestly don't want them looking 'too' realistic.

    Tim Drake's Robin and DG's Nightwing looks pretty kick-ass, Freeze doesn't look half-bad, himself. Joker's pushing things, though. Different variation, is all.

    It's an MMO. If you got to play as DC characters, there'd be a severe limit of players. Cause ya can't all be Batman.

      They could have made it work. There are a lot of characters that people don't even know about, and then there are different versions of all the characters from other story lines and dimensions. I'll have to hear more about it before I can say I have any interest in it.

    Maybe the DC characters will serve as quest givers and their cities will base as your main start for a character you make up.

    Not a big fan. Think I'll stick to City of Heroes for now for my super powered MMOs and check out Champions Online when there's a little more info.

    They should've gone with a Joker that looks more like this...



    It's cartoony, yet still pretty cool, IMO. I'd love to see that it 3D.

          Well it was definitely a different take on the series, but I don't even look at it as Batman. It was too much of a reach.

          The one in the game is inspired by Jim Lee's art style. As are most of the other designs, from what I remember.

    I loved the way they made Bane in the cartoon, though. He was like a scrawny hitman, that could turn into a monstrous beast. It was really cool.

    After seeing the trailer, I'm pretty sure I'm staying away from this game.
