Infinity Ward working on a new IP?

Bale Fire | July 07, 2008 | News | PC Playstation 3 Company
While Treyarch are hard at work on Call of Duty 5, Infinity Ward the makers of Call of Daty 4 are believed to be working on a IP according to community manager Robert Bowling, which they claim they will have complete control over. Will it be able to rival the COD franchise?
On his official blog, community manager Robert “402″ Bowling recently revealed that Infinity Ward has been hard at work on an all-new project following its contract renewal with publisher Activision. That’s not all though, as IW is also in the planning stages of development on a unique IP, one that the studio will have “complete control over” according to Bowling himself

Lol, I hate to sound like an idiot, but what exactly does "IP" stand for? I suppose it just means original series, judging from the article...

What's with the negathumb? He asked what IP stands for, so I told him.

Anyway, IPs aren't necessarily system-exclusive. I believe it just means a game(s) that is neither a sequel or a spinoff. Basically it's like saying "a completely new concept."

Yes, and that generally means a game, but it can also mean a series of games....

I think that, usually, IPs are system exclusive, though I wouldn't be surprised if there were plenty of exceptions to that line of thought....
