Firmware Update 2.41 for PS3 up!

As suspected in my recent article the firmware update for the Playstation 3 has been released. Update 2.41 will both introduce the features in 2.40 (in game XMB/trophies) and fix the problems which occurred with the previous update. So what are you waiting for? Go download it now!

Well folks, it’s back. PlayStation 3 firmware 2.41 is now available for download from Network Update. As you’d expect, this is a minor update, simply fixing an issue in 2.40 that prevented the XMB from displaying properly after installing on a limited number PS3 units. And that’s it. Good on Sony for providing a fix for the issue in a swift manner.

    I'm dl-ing it now and it came up with a message to not turn off the PS3 during the update as it may not turn on otherwise.

    Isn't that standard with all updates? To not turn off the PS3 while its downloading?

    Yeah but the message doesn't usually say that turning off the PS3 during an update may cause it to not turn on again.At least I don't remember that part being there anyway.

    Ah, I figured the update would be 2.41

    Change might be related to the 2.40 fiasco, perhaps they determined the problem was that somehow, the update caused it to shut-down prematurely?

    Perhaps it was just a mistake, that people associated their bricked PS3s with the fact it was the 2.4 update, and it was really a problem on their end...Kinda doubt that though....Just covering their arses, I suppose....

    i hope that i will be able to get this update off a disc of some sort... maybe if future PS3s come with them, then someone sells it on eBay... my Network's not set up...

      I believe you can update via USB. I saw a link earlier this week in the PS3 forums.

    Yeah Gensis look for the Sony site online, you can download the update onto a USB from there and then to your PS3
