Back in May, developer JV Games announced a rather strange game for Nintendo's WiiWare service. This game was titled Frat Party Games - Beer Pong. Since then, school groups, drug-free coalitions, and anti-underage-drinking groups have been protesting the release of the seemingly harmless game.

Today, JV Games has announced that Frat Party Games - Beer Pong has gone sober. The game's new title is Frat Party Games -- Pong Toss, and the new game will not feature any alcohol at all. The ESRB rating has also been changed from Teen to Everyone.

Last month community groups in Virginia voiced their concern over the 'T for Teen' rating Frat Party Games: Beer Pong had received. The complaint was that a game based on the use of alcohol should not be rated for minors under the legal drinking age. At the time, Beer Pong creator JVC Games dismissed the concerns, describing the situation as "kind of funny."

But it looks like the community groups won this battle. With no fanfare, JVC has quietly changed the name of the game from Frat Party Games: Beer Pong to Frat Party Games: Pong Toss. The updated game description at its official website makes no mention of beer or any kind of alcohol. Its rating has also been dropped from 'T for Teen' to 'E for Everyone.'

WTF. It's called Beer Pong, people. You parents need to be more assertive with your little bastards. I assume if they can handle the gory killing in Resident Evil and Manhunt, they can handle Beer Pong. =/
