Microsoft announced together with the New York Television Festival that they are hosting a competition where players can win $100,000 to make their own TV Show for the Xbox Live Marketplace

With the help of the New York Television Festival, Microsoft is launching the Xbox Live Originals competition. The contest is asking wannabe Aaron Spellings to create a short pilot for consideration to be picked up as the first original programming available on the company's video download service.

A 5- to 15-minute pilot in any genre should be submitted before June 29, 2007. The winner will be granted a $100,000 budget for a six-episode series and a screening at the 2007 New York Television Festival.

Hehe, that's a cool idea. Sounds like an excellent way for Microsoft to earn money. I wonder how these shows will be kept going. It can't be easy to find a reliable user who will continue the show individually.
